The Incubus System Chapter 885. Angel Creation Project I

The Incubus System Chapter 885. Angel Creation Project I

Stepping out of my house, I hit the pavement, taking it slow, waiting for the organization to send their goons to snatch me up.

Deciding to play it smart, I opted for a chill walk to the park. Yeah, the same one where the elders pulled a surprise attack on me and Larry. Figured it was the perfect hunting ground for these wannabe kidnappers. Cafes and grocery stores were out – too many eyes and too mainstream. The park, on the other hand, offered shady spots, bushy corners, and probably some ninja-like spots for them to jump out from.

Sure, it was still a bit risky. I ain't into strolling aimlessly, looking like a lost tourist. I preferred to keep it low-key and blend in with the park-goers. Normal was the name of the game. As I sauntered down the path, hands shoved in my pockets. I was trying to act cool and relaxed, not act like someone who was waiting for his kidnappers.

I kept my head on a swivel, scanning the surroundings for any shady characters. It was like playing hide and seek. Every rustle of leaves made me twitch, but I kept the facade, acting like just another dude out for a leisurely stroll.

Arriving at the park, the scene was very different from the night when the elders ambushed me. Now, in the bright sunlight, the park had transformed into a vibrant canvas of life. The swings swayed with the laughter of small children, their giggles echoing in the air. Elderly folks, with a slow but steady pace, ambled through the well-trodden paths. The playground became a haven of youthful exuberance, and innocence contrasting last night’s weird battle.

Shady trees extended their branches like protective arms, offering spots of respite from the warm sunlight. The leaves rustled in a gentle rhythm. The bushes, once shadowy figures in the night, now danced with the breeze.

The sunlight, warm and comforting, bathed the park in a glow inversely proportional to the dark dimension. The warmth on my skin felt like a welcome embrace. It was so nice.

I took a long breath, letting the nice air fill my lungs, and stretched my arms. A smile on my lips. "Right, totally slipped my mind that school's not in session yet," I mumbled, my eyes narrowing as I caught sight of a bunch of kids running around the park. It was a shame I couldn't take Jill for a walk here before we parted ways last night. I had to keep her presence a secret and to make it worse, none of Celia and I were married, our father was dead and our mother was in jail, someone could have reported me and Celia that we had snatched a random kid off the street just because they saw Jill popped out in my house out of nowhere.

I halted my lazy stroll, scanning the surroundings. Inhaling deeply once again, I let out a satisfied exhale. Not bad, not bad at all. It was been ages since I just soaked up the sun and nature like this, without worrying about human politics or battles.

"What a peaceful day," I muttered to myself, almost sounding like some old dude reminiscing about the good ol' days. I couldn't help but crack another smile, letting the warmth of the sunlight seep into my bones.

Just when I started embracing the tranquility, something shifted in the air behind me. My demon senses tingling, but I sensed trouble. I could practically feel them closing in, and I had a hunch about who 'they' were.

I held my reflex. A grip tightened around me from behind, and a piece of cloth, reeking of some weird chemical, slapped over my mouth.

[Someone is attacking you with chloroform!]

[Do you want to neutralize it?]

[Yes / No]

‘Ugh, the smell!’ I grumbled internally, hitting the 'Yes' option. Death Raze had covered me against poison, but who wanted to endure that nasty chloroform stench willingly?

I played it cool, shutting my eyes and slumping like I was out cold. They probably thought they hit the jackpot with an easy capture. The next thing I knew, I was being hauled into some car, the scent of chloroform lingering in the air.

The journey was surprisingly quiet, with the only sounds being the hum of the engine and the occasional honk from other cars. Three people in total – a driver and two accomplices, I guessed. I kept my breathing steady, trying to catch any snippets of conversation. But nope, they weren't the chatty type.

Amid the quiet hum of the car's engine, one of the captors broke the silence. "We got him. He's out like a light. Heading to the base."

A distorted voice crackled through the earpiece, "Good job. Any complications?"

"Nah, piece of cake. He went down like a sack of potatoes,” he stated.

"Roger that. Get 'the angel' to the destination."

"Sure thing. We're en route."

'They call me "Angel,"' I mused inwardly, suppressing a cringe. Irony slapped me in the face – here I was, a demon lord, the prince of the dark dimension and they tagged me as "the angel." Couldn't they come up with something a bit more normal? Then again, it was part of their grand plan, the "Angel Creation Project," where I was supposed to be their battle puppet.

I couldn't help but find the situation hilariously absurd. In the Serpent Rock kingdom, there's a literary angel trapped inside a crystal, but no, they did not bother releasing her. Instead, they took a normal uni student like me and slapped me with the "angel" label.

Well, I bet they weren't too keen on releasing Puriel from her crystalline prison because they couldn't guarantee she'd stick around for a chat. She could've bolted the minute they cracked the crystal. And Puriel's like a VIP energy pack to create demon hunter vaccines. Losing her would be a major blow. So, creating another "loyal soldier" sounded like the more sensible option.
