The Incubus System Chapter 878. A Fabricated Story

The Incubus System Chapter 878. A Fabricated Story

We proceeded with our breakfast. Larry sat across from me, initially wearing a gloomy expression that could rival a raincloud. His muttering about wanting a girlfriend, a "normal" one, not a body pillow like his beloved 'Nana-chan,' was an unusual departure from his usual demeanor. But as usual, his melancholy was short-lived, and soon he was back to his trademark attitude – eating with gusto.

“So, Larry, any particular reason you're fixated on 'normal' girlfriends today?” I quipped, trying to lighten the atmosphere.

He sighed dramatically, biting the sandwich. “Just feeling a bit lonely, you know? 'Nana-chan' can't exactly keep me warm at night.”

I chuckled. “Well, maybe you should consider upgrading to a real human relationship, then. No judgment here.”

Larry shot me a flat stare. “You, offering relationship advice? I'd rather take fashion tips from a scarecrow.”

We bantered back and forth as we finished our breakfast, the playful exchange a regular occurrence between us. Larry's peculiar mood swings were part of the package deal of being friends with him.

About half an hour later, Larry's exhaustion caught up with him, and his eyelids drooped as he stifled a yawn. I offered a sympathetic grin. “Looks like someone's ready for a power nap.”

“I feel like I've been hit by a truck. Don't you dare make fun of me,” he warned, standing up and stretching.

I decided to lend him a helping hand, activating my portal skill to transport us to the front of his house. Once we arrived, he told me the bad news.

“Hey, I forgot to tell you. I told my mom we were at the club last night,” he pointed out.

“What?!” A realization hit me – Larry had fed his mother a fabricated story about our night.

He shrugged, a mischievous glint in his eyes. “Well, I needed an excuse and that’s all I could think about.”

After bidding Larry goodnight, I was met with the wrath of his mother. She launched into a lecture about how a good man like me shouldn't be spending all night at clubs. It was a scenario I hadn't anticipated, and Larry's mom seemed to have bought his fib entirely.

I decided to put my Mind Corruption skill to use, a little nudge to alter her memory. “Larry and I just had a gaming night at my house last night. It was all innocent fun.”

She softened, the stern lines on her face easing. “Oh, well, that's different then. You boys and your games. Just make sure he gets enough sleep next time, okay?”

“Absolutely, ma’am. Thanks for understanding,” I replied with a smile, secretly relieved that my improvisation had worked.

Once again, I found myself back at my house, courtesy of my portal skill. The anticipation filled me, waiting for news from Mrs. Clea about the impending pickup from the organization. Given the chaotic events of the previous night, I didn't expect a swift response.

Realizing it might be a while, I decided to seize the opportunity to escape the confines of my home. The demon world beckoned, and a stroll with Elenna sounded like the perfect way to bide my time. But first, a quick message to Mrs. Clea via telepathy, ensuring her that I'd be available in approximately three hours.

I swung by Celia's room, extending an invitation for her to join us. However, she declined with a dismissive wave of her hand. The demon world didn't quite pique her interest, unlike Elenna, who practically leaped at the chance to explore.

Elenna and I set off, the transition from the human world to the demon world seamless. Vibrant hues and otherworldly scents greeted us.

The red moon bathed Licheri City in a warm glow as Elenna and I embarked on a leisurely stroll through the urban landscape. Leon, my assistant, accompanied us. Opting for a mundane car instead of Cerberus, I maneuvered through the bustling streets, taking in the sights and sounds of demon life.

The city's architecture sprawled around us, a mesmerizing fusion of ethereal and modern elements. Tall, intricate buildings loomed, each one telling a unique story of the demon inhabitants. As we drove, Leon took on the role of our tour guide, elucidating the intricacies of Licheri's life to Elenna.

"You see, Elenna, those towering structures are the Succubus Towers," Leon began, pointing to the majestic spires that reached for the sky. "They house the succubi, who are known for their charm and allure. The architecture reflects their elegance and, well, seductiveness."

Elenna, perched beside me in the car, listened attentively, her eyes reflecting curiosity. Leon continued his impromptu city tour.

"Now, the Incubus Commons are over there," he gestured toward a district where sleek buildings stood proudly. "Incubi are more inclined towards refinement and intellect to charm female demons. You'll find battle arenas and library hubs in that area."

As we drove further, Leon explained the purpose of various structures. The Exchange Plaza, where demons congregated for business dealings; the Demon Market, a bustling hub for all kinds of trades; and the Shadow Gardens, a serene space where demons could find solace amid nature.

Elenna absorbed every detail. Her eyes sparkled with fascination, and I couldn't help but feel a twinge of pride for our city. "The demon world has a charm of its own, doesn't it?" she muttered.

I nodded, appreciating the unique blend of the mystical and the mundane. "It is and it's always evolving."

Leon delved into the daily lives of the demons. He pointed out cafes where demons gathered for casual conversations, parks where families enjoyed their leisure time, and art installations that adorned the cityscape.

The car seamlessly navigated through the city's arteries, providing a snapshot of life in Licheri. Elenna was fully engrossed in Leon's explanations as if endorsing her approval of the city. Our little tour came to an end, the car pulling into my office. Elenna hopped out, her eyes filled with newfound knowledge about our city.

Leon turned to me with a small smile. "Not a bad way to spend the morning, right, Your Highness?"

I chuckled. "Not bad at all, Leon. Thanks for the guided tour. Elenna seems to have enjoyed it."
