The Incubus System Chapter 871. Excuses, Excuses

The Incubus System Chapter 871. Excuses, Excuses

I furrowed my brows, attempting to grasp the logic that seemed to guide her actions.

“Remind them? Can't you just, I don't know, tell them?” I suggested, unsure why she would resort to anything beyond straightforward communication.

“Communication, yes. But there are times when a more impactful demonstration is necessary to spur action. They've forgotten the potential within them, and it's time to reignite that understanding,” she conveyed, her celestial wisdom underscoring the urgency in her words.

That statement created a dilemma for me. “Um… you know I actually want to let you do it, but… I'm also a demon now. What if they use what you taught against me and my subordinates?” I said, my brows furrowing with concern. Her plan, while holding the potential to benefit humanity, appeared as a double-edged sword for someone like me. While I acknowledged the necessity for humans to be aware of their latent power, there lingered the risk that this knowledge could be turned against me, especially considering my still-developing authority in the human world.

She hummed thoughtfully, her celestial aura pulsating with a quiet energy. After a moment, she snapped her fingers. “You said these demon hunters have some kind of organization, right? They have leaders, don't they? Why not take their leader as your subordinate?” she suggested, her celestial wisdom unveiling a potential solution.

“I'm trying,” I said, emphasizing each word as I met Puriel's piercing gaze.

"So you already have the idea but you haven't succeeded in carrying it out. Didn’t say they are ‘weak’?" she clarified, her fingers mimicking air quotes. Her eyes bore into mine with an unwavering intensity, seeking an explanation.

“Taking over a secret organization is not as easy as you think, Puriel. There is more than one leader there. They have a senate, and that's different from the chief. To make it worse, they're hiding the senators' identities, so I can only guess," I explained with a tinge of frustration lacing my words. As I spoke, my gaze matched hers with a flat stare, silently conveying the complexities and challenges involved in managing the clandestine machinations of the demon hunter organization.

She nodded, acknowledging the difficulty of the task at hand. "Secrets within secrets," she remarked, her voice reflecting a mixture of understanding and curiosity.

“Exactly. It's like peeling an onion; there are layers upon layers, and each layer brings a new challenge,” I said, a touch of exasperation evident in my tone. Dealing with the hidden structures and power dynamics within the organization required a finesse that went beyond mere strength or authority.

Puriel leaned back, crossing her arms. "You need an inside source, someone who can give you accurate information about the organization's workings," she suggested, her common wisdom offering a potential solution.

I nodded in agreement. "That's precisely what I've been trying to establish. To make informed decisions, I need someone who can navigate the intricacies of the demon hunter organization," I admitted.

“But you said it has a chief, just investigate through him,” Puriel suggested, her forehead creased in a frown.

“I have made her my partner. But she also doesn't know the senators' identities," I clarified, emphasizing the level of secrecy and complexity surrounding the demon hunter organization.

“That's really troublesome,” she huffed, her impatience and annoyance evident.

“Yeah. Very," I sighed, the weight of the situation palpable in my voice. The difficulty of navigating the intricate web of secrecy within the organization was taking a toll on my patience and resolve.

“Still, I will teach the humans to defend themselves,” Puriel declared, her gaze flicking toward me with determination.

“After I manage to take control of the organization, okay? Just to make sure they don't use your power against me," I asserted, ensuring clarity in my intentions.

“Okay,” she agreed, a nod accompanying her response.

“So… about the chat with the colossal eye, do you still want to do it?” I asked, steering the conversation away from the complexities of demon hunter organizations.

She shot me a sidelong glance, a hint of sarcasm coloring her tone. “Can you do a shared meditation?” she quipped.

“No,” I admitted.

“Focused telepathic link?” she inquired, maintaining the same sarcastic tone.

“No,” I repeated.

“That's your answer,” she declared, annoyance evident in her voice and the skeptical look in her eyes seemed to convey, 'You are useless.' It wasn't the first time she had expressed her frustration at my lack of certain skills.

I leaned back, crossing my arms defensively. “Well, not all of us have access to angelic abilities,” I retorted, my tone defensive yet laced with a touch of humor.

Puriel rolled her eyes, a gesture that seemed to say, 'Excuses, excuses.'

“Right,” I conceded with a dry smile playing on my lips.

Her grin widened, mischief gleaming in her eyes. "So... since we can't do anything..." She retrieved her book once again. “I will tell you about my story then,” she declared, the prospect of sharing her story evident in her tone.

I cringed, anticipating the tales that awaited me. However, a sudden spark of inspiration hit me. “How about you teach me about those basics of the light dimension? You know, like telepathic links and meditation?” I suggested, eager to explore a new avenue of learning.

To my relief, she appeared intrigued by the proposal. “Hmm… Alright. I've never taught it to a demon before, but it's worth a try," she agreed, the curiosity in her celestial nature evident. It seemed that the idea of breaking down the barriers between our worlds, even through knowledge, intrigued her.

“Let's make it a crash course, then,” I suggested, ready to delve into the mysteries of the light dimension. “Don’t worry. I'm a fast learner," I boasted, a playful glint in my eyes.

Puriel chuckled. "We'll see about that. But first, you need to understand the fundamental principles of the light dimension," she began, her voice taking on a lecturing tone as she delved into the intricacies of her angelic domain.

I dislike people that don't train others properly, and then get mad at those they've thwarted for not knowing something they didn't teach.
