The Incubus System Chapter 850. Dancing Lady IV

The Incubus System Chapter 850. Dancing Lady IV

The battle had stretched on for nearly ten minutes, each passing moment adding to the uncertainty of the outcome. The demon exhibited erratic behavior, reminiscent of a gigantic, hungry frog poised to pounce on Larry. At times, her movements mirrored those of a deranged zombie, a relentless force determined to sink her teeth into Larry's flesh.

‘Should I help him?’ I thought, my eyes fixated on the ongoing battle between Larry and the demon. The internal debate raged on, torn between my inclination to assist my best friend and the larger, more strategic perspective as a demon lord.

He wasn't in immediate danger, at least not in a life-or-death scenario that warranted my direct intervention. Larry displayed a level of competence that allowed him to navigate the skirmish. Yet, the struggle was evident—his reliance on a singular skill hinted at the limitations he faced.

As his best friend, a part of me yearned to swoop in, bringing a swift end to the confrontation. However, my role as a demon lord demanded a broader vision. Empowering humans to confront and overcome demonic threats independently was crucial for the long-term survival of both worlds.

The dilemma lingered. Larry's resilience clashed with the inherent vulnerability of humanity. In the end, I chose to remain an observer, resisting the impulse to intervene directly. Larry, though facing challenges, needed the space to prove his mettle. It was a test not just of his skills but of the collective strength humanity could muster against the encroaching darkness.

“Haaa!” Larry's figure contorted with exertion, his primal shout echoing in the night. In a moment of sheer determination, he hurled his Mana Chain at the demon. The chain, imbued with a luminous energy, lashed out with precision, ensnaring the creature in a glowing web.

The unexpected success caught me off guard, and my eyes widened in disbelief. The old lady, now constrained by the ethereal bindings, struggled against the restraint. It was a critical moment, a testament to Larry's resilience and, perhaps, a stroke of fortune. The fatigue of the parasite or the frailty of the host's body seemed to play a role, allowing the chain to secure its grip.

"Oh, he did it," I whispered to myself, the drowsiness that had clung to me dissipating in the face of the unfolding triumph.

Suddenly, the chain emitted a resounding hiss, resonating through the quiet night. Simultaneously, the old lady unleashed a guttural scream, her body writhing in pain.

My eyes widened as I observed the unfolding spectacle. The chain's luminous glow intensified, and with a forceful expulsion, something emerged from the old woman's throat. A small, grotesque slime oozed out, a vile manifestation of the parasitic demon forcibly ejected from its host.

"Well, having holy power does have its advantages," I mused. The process, though unsettling, appeared more straightforward than the intricate methods I employed to handle parasitic demons.

Larry, having successfully expelled the parasitic demon, readied himself for what came next. His hands bathed in an ethereal light, gradually shaping into a pair of silver gauntlets, exuding a divine aura. The radiance, unmistakably holy in nature, flickered and danced, casting an otherworldly glow over the dimly lit surroundings.

My eyes widened in surprise, fixated on the manifestation of this newfound skill. The silver gauntlets clung to Larry's hands. The holy energy emanating from the gauntlets hinted at a potent defensive or offensive capability, a significant augmentation to his demon-hunting repertoire.

“Dad…” a spontaneous whisper came out of my mouth as my eyes fell on him. My shock was clear on my face. Yes, that skill, those gauntlets were similar to my late father's skill.

Larry's movements were nothing short of choreography in the battle ballet that unfolded in the park. With a deftness born of experience, he seized the small slime expelled from the parasitic demon, his grip firm and unwavering. The squelchy creature, a manifestation of malevolence, met its demise as Larry clenched his fist, the ominous threat reduced to a mere smattering of ashes.

The ensuing silence was broken only by the light breeze rustling through the park, carrying away the remnants of the malevolent force. Larry, having successfully thwarted the demonic intrusion, turned his attention to the now-unburdened host. The old lady, freed from the insidious possession, crumpled in a near-faint. Yet, in a fluid motion, Larry caught her with practiced ease before she could collide with the unforgiving ground. It was so smooth and I was sure if, that old lady was a girl, she would probably have a crush on him. Too bad it wasn’t.

"Are you okay, ma’am?" Larry inquired, cradling the old lady in his arms as though she were a fragile relic. The scene unfolding before me mirrored a live-action superhero movie, with Larry cast as the reluctant hero.

However, the lady remained unresponsive, her eyes sealed shut against the recent ordeal.

Larry shifted his attention to me, a sense of urgency coloring his voice. "Dude, looks like we have to get her to the hospital," he declared, the weight of responsibility evident in his tone. The gravity of the situation hung in the air.

His words acted as a reality check, snapping me out of my trance. Blinking rapidly, as if waking from a spell, I mumbled, "Oh, right." I rose from my hiding spot, hastening to Larry's side to assist with the unconscious old lady.

"Where do we take her? The clinic nearby?" I questioned, concealing the burning curiosity about Larry's newfound skills. How did he acquire abilities reminiscent of my dad's? Yet, this wasn't the time or place to voice such inquiries.

"Yeah, I think it's better to take her to a clinic near here. The demons are probably still roaming around here," Larry emphasized, urgency lacing his words. "The sooner we get her to a safe place, the better."

I nodded in agreement. "You're right," I concurred, aligning my thoughts with his.

We had only walked a few steps, yet another announcement appeared in front of me
