Puriel stared at my outstretched hand, a moment of hesitation flickering in her gaze before she met my eyes. "You better not play with me," she warned, the timbre of her voice carrying a threatening undertone as she reluctantly accepted my hand.
She delved into the twisted labyrinth of the woman's memories. Vivid images unfolded like a gruesome movie, depicting the woman's sadistic tendencies and the horrifying events she had orchestrated. Scenes of neglect, abuse, and moments of pure malevolence played out before her.
Puriel's eyes widened as the gravity of the woman's actions registered in her mind. The goddess, bound by her divine limitations, could only detect the state of a person's heart—whether it harbored goodness or malevolence. Yet, she lacked the power to manipulate or delve into the intricate web of memories woven within mortal minds.
"Oh no..." Puriel muttered, her voice barely above a whisper, as the harrowing reel of the woman's memories came to an end. She released my hand, the color draining from her face, a clear sign that the revelation had shaken her to the core. It was a glimpse into the grim reality of the human capacity for cruelty.
Unfazed, I suggested an alternative punishment, something that would ensure the woman couldn't inflict harm on anyone else. "I think we should give her a different punishment. Something that makes her unable to harm anyone," I proposed, throwing the idea into the conversational ring for Puriel's consideration.
"You mean you will kill her?" Puriel sought confirmation, worry etched across her features.
I shot her a dry smile, bemused by her immediate leap to the assumption of death. "No, I won't kill her. But maybe I'll give her something more than punishment. What do you think?" I paused, letting the suggestion hang in the air, allowing her to ponder the possibilities.
"What do you mean?" Puriel inquired, her brows knitting in confusion.
I leaned back, propping myself up on the edge of a nearby table, adopting a demeanor that hinted at an intriguing revelation. "You know, there's this all-male tribe in the shadow realm that's on the brink of extinction. And, well, they need a female to keep things going in the reproduction department. A tricky situation, considering how picky they are," I explained, a mischievous grin playing on my lips.
Puriel's frown deepened. "So, what's your solution?" she pressed, wary of the devilish machinations spinning in my mind.
With a sweet, almost charming smile, I laid out my proposal. "Well, this woman here," I gestured towards the unsuspecting mortal, "they're perfectly fine in the reproductive health department. No issues whatsoever. So, I thought, why not lend a hand? Or, more precisely, why not offer a solution to this tribe's pickiness? I'm sure the woman would be a perfect fit."
Puriel's eyes reflected a mix of concern and confusion. "You're sending her to an all-male demon tribe for... reproduction?" she asked, still trying to wrap her head around the unconventional plan.
I shrugged, the devilish smirk refusing to leave my face. "Yep. Desperate times call for desperate measures, or in this case, desperate demons," I chuckled, reveling in the irony.
Puriel's brow furrowed in disapproval. "This seems wrong. Are you sure it's a suitable punishment?" she questioned, her sense of justice battling with the unusual proposition.
I waved off her concerns dismissively. "It's all within the rules. I'm not breaking any agreements. Plus, it'll keep her from harming those kids," I explained, my nonchalant demeanor contrasting with the gravity of the situation.
"Yes, but--- You want to take her to your realm?" she confirmed, a mix of disbelief and disapproval evident in her tone.
"Yeah, this trash is destined for my realm sooner or later. Besides, she'll meet her end when it's her time to die. Technically, I'm not breaking any rules," I casually remarked, waving a hand in the direction of the woman as if sealing her fate.
"But bringing a mortal into your realm..." Puriel hesitated, a hint of doubt in her voice.
I chuckled at her uncertainty. "That's also not against the agreement we made," I clarified, a devilish grin creeping across my face. "Remember that whole 'What is of darkness should stay in shadow, and what is of purity should stay in light' thing? Yeah, that ship sailed the moment we set foot in this realm. So, technically, we're already breaking the rules. What's a little detour, huh?" I added with a sly wink. "As long as you keep that divine mouth of yours shut, no one's the wiser."
Her response was swift and predictable. "I refuse!" she declared, her stance firm and unwavering. Stubborn as ever.
"Then consider the deal off. Let her keep abusing those kids until they wither away," I remarked in a casual tone, giving a nonchalant shrug for good measure. I knew Puriel well enough to anticipate her reaction. She might be the goddess of chastity, but even she couldn't turn a blind eye to the suffering of innocent children.
"Wait!" she exclaimed again, a hint of desperation in her voice. The moral dilemma seemed to be taking a toll on her, and my devilish gamble was playing out just as planned.
I turned toward her with an exaggerated sigh. "Make up your mind, Puriel. Time's ticking, and those kids are still in line for another round of abuse," I prodded, my tone suggestive. The pressure was building, and I was confident she'd cave sooner rather than later.
Her eyes darted between me and the woman with the broom, uncertainty etched on her features. It was a dance of morality and temptation, and I had front-row seats to the divine drama unfolding.
"I agree," Puriel said, her voice carrying the weight of reluctant acceptance.
A sly grin crept onto my face. ‘Well, that was fast,’ I mused internally. Aloud, I expressed, "Nice! Wish me luck! I hope they like her. That tribe gives me a headache. They're pickier than me. But I can't let them become extinct; they're quite useful for my realm's ecosystem," I added, a tinge of annoyance seeping into my tone.
