The Incubus System Chapter 835. What's The Big Plan?

The Incubus System Chapter 835. What's The Big Plan?

‘Do you have any solution?’ I asked him, flicking my gaze at him.

Lord Damon shot back, a hint of frustration lacing his response. ‘What makes you think I've got all the answers? Didn't I just say I only know what my old man told me in bedtime tales?’ His eyes held a tinge of irritation, not directed at me but at the confounding enigma we were dealing with. It was clear he was riled up not because of me, but due to his vexation at being in the dark about this complex riddle.

I let out a heavy breath, the weight of the situation pressing down on my chest. ‘So, you don’t have any thoughts, any inkling, anything at all?’ I redirected my query, hoping against hope that he might have a sliver of insight. If only I could provide some lead or hint, but accessing the border? It was a big nope in my book. I lacked any substantial information about the guardian or the border. With two demon lords and one formidable guardian in the mix, I couldn't crunch the numbers or make any sort of prediction. Jumping into that situation blindly would be a suicide mission.

This time, it was Lord Damon's turn to release a long sigh. ‘I’m just as clueless. It's a lose-lose situation at this point. We’re between a rock and a hard place,’ he concurred, the gravity of our reality sinking in, his voice dipped in a solemn tone. His vexation was evident, and I could empathize with his demeanor. He was a king among demons, ancient beyond measure. His pride was as towering as a skyscraper. Not comprehending matters related to our demon ilk was enough to grind his gears. He stood in stark contrast to Azrael, who appeared nonchalant, concerned only with his own affairs. Lord Damon's frustration stemmed from his inability to grasp these crucial demon-related intricacies.

‘We need a game plan, some way to crack this nut without blowing ourselves into oblivion,’ I said, my voice reflecting the urgency of our predicament. It was a puzzle we had to solve, and fast. Like being stuck in a loop with no exit or entering a minefield without a map or a metal detector. The uncertainty loomed larger than ever, casting its shadow over our attempts to navigate this mess. The situation was tangled up like a knot that refused to untangle.

Lord Damon nodded, a glint of determination in his eyes despite the frustration. ‘We've got to figure out something. This isn’t just about our pride; it's about the balance of our realms,’ he mused, the weight of responsibility evident in his every word.

It was a standoff against the unknown, and we were standing on shaky ground. It was a test of survival in the face of an inscrutable foe. The only way out was to dig deeper, strategize smarter, and hope for a break in this fog of uncertainty.

The weight of the problem hung heavy in the air as Lord Damon and I fell into a silence that spoke volumes. We weren’t just quiet in our words but also in our thoughts, each of us racking our brains to figure a way out of this mess. Ideas buzzed in my mind, ranging from dispatching investigators to holding Beel and Zatan’s city under siege, basically staking our claim on their turf. But it felt like hitting a brick wall; those two didn't seem bothered about their realm in the demon world. They might have been fearless there, but they’d have to face the music here if Lord Damon or I had any say. It all seemed like a dead-end street.

‘Maybe we should pay a visit to their turf,’ Lord Damon suddenly suggested, jolting me out of my thoughts.

I blinked, fixing my attention back on him. ‘What do you mean?’ I prodded, curious about his train of thought.

He met my gaze. ‘Not 'we', but specifically me. While you guard the other end to ensure no shenanigans happen there. If the human world falls into their hands, they’ll have a field day, building armies and expanding their dominion faster. That world's a gold mine for demons,’ he explained, alluding to the potential exploitation of humans.

I scratched my head, weighing the options. It made sense; the human world, with its abundant resources and unsuspecting populace, was a tantalizing prospect for those power-hungry demons. If they got their claws into that realm, they'd be one step closer to an unbridled dominion.

‘Alright, so while you're diving into their territories, I'll be the gatekeeper on the other side, making sure nothing sneaks through,’ I summarized, the plan forming a concrete shape in my mind.

Lord Damon nodded, his expression resolute. ‘We can’t risk the human world falling into their hands. That'd be a disaster waiting to happen,’ he affirmed, the weight of responsibility evident in his words. It was time to roll the dice and hope for the best.

I couldn't deny the gnawing worry that was constantly lurking in the back of my mind. Beel, that slimy demon, had this freaky ability to churn out his own soldiers like pesky amoebas. And where did they end up? Just inside innocent humans of course. It was a match made in some twisted demon heaven. Plus, the rumors—whispers about how feasting on humans could turbocharge a demon's power. No one could verify the facts, but the belief was there, hanging in the air like a bad smell.

‘Also, I’ll get Irien on the line to speed up the armor production and send Syntyche to the human world to have your back. Her Spyder will be a gem there since that’s where those two wanna be tyrants will be setting up shop. They’ve probably bailed on everything they had here,’ Lord Damon chimed in, layering on his plans.

‘Alright, spill it. What's the big plan? What's your game once you step into their playground?’ I prodded, eager to know his next move.
