The Incubus System Chapter 829. Strange Energy

The Incubus System Chapter 829. Strange Energy

Ethan’s PoV

Stepping out of the portal, I felt the familiar demonic atmosphere coursing through me, confirming that I was in the demon world. Instead of my office in Licheri, I was in the heart of the capital, right in the grandiose lobby of the 99th floor.

My servants and pets turned to greet me with a respectful, "Your Highness," as I emerged from the portal.

I appreciated their reverence, but there was no time for pleasantries. I raised my hand, a clear signal for them to cut the chit-chat. My mind was racing with questions. My expression showed my concern and seriousness. I even didn't change my form and stayed in my demon lord form. The only thing I knew for sure was that I had to find Lord Damon, and I had to do it fast.

Without uttering a word, I unleashed my Teleportation skill, and in the blink of an eye, I materialized in Lord Damon's imposing office.

Without hesitation, I called out, "Dad," as a greeting. "Do you know about---" I was about to delve into the pressing matter that had brought me here when I suddenly halted, mid-sentence. My words hung in the air, suspended, as my gaze landed on Azrael, seated in the room.

Lord Damon and Azrael were facing each other, the expanse of Lord Damon's imposing desk serving as a formidable barrier between them. As soon as they sensed my presence, their gazes converged upon me, their expressions a curious blend of surprise and expectation.

Lord Damon's response was swift, a frown knitting his brows as he directed his gaze toward me. "What's with that form? Are you trying to make a grand entrance or something?" he questioned with a heavy note of skepticism, his tone brimming with his typical arrogant demeanor. His objection was unmistakable, and I couldn't help but notice the disapproval etched into his voice.

While Azrael greeted me with an unexpectedly cheerful tone. His eyes gleamed with enthusiasm, and a grin stretched across his lips, making him seem like a child who had stumbled upon a surprise playdate in the unlikeliest of places.

"Damian, you're here!" Azrael's voice held an infectious joy, and I couldn't help but be taken aback by his warm welcome. It was a stark contrast to my father's icy demeanor.

Observing their contrasting reactions, I surmised that neither of them was aware of the gravity of the situation, judging by their relaxed postures and gestures. It was a relief, in a way, as I hadn't intended to alarm them.

With a deep breath, I decided to ease the tension in the room and don a more casual demeanor. I forced a smile and responded, "Oh, hi, Azrael. What brought you here?" My voice was light and friendly, carrying none of the weight my earlier appearance had. It was clear that something out of the ordinary had led Azrael to venture beyond his usual territory. I was eager to find out what had brought him here.

In a swift, fluid motion, I canceled my Demon Lord Form and reverted to my demonic form. The transition was marked by the reduction of my six wings to a pair and my better appearance. I now appeared more relaxed and approachable.

Azrael let out an exasperated huff and dropped the bombshell. "Well, something happened. So I decided to consult with the king."

Seizing the opportunity to get to the bottom of things, I quickly moved to the seat next to him and plopped down. "Mind telling me what it is?" I inquired, my curiosity piqued. My mind raced with possibilities, suspecting that it had something to do with the colossal eye, Zatan and Beel, or maybe even that enigmatic crack that had appeared and vanished in the blink of an eye.

Azrael didn't immediately spill the beans. Instead, he turned to Lord Damon, seeking his approval. "Is that okay?" he asked, confirming if it was alright to reveal the details.

In that charged moment, Lord Damon, my father, turned his attention towards me, and I followed suit. His piercing gaze bore into me, conveying a silent question, ‘Should I tell you?’ I met his unspoken query with a flat, unwavering stare, one that conveyed the message loud and clear, ‘You better let him say it.’

With the unspoken agreement settled, Lord Damon shifted his gaze towards Azrael, granting him the go-ahead to spill the mysterious beans. "Yes," he replied succinctly, giving Azrael the green light to share the perplexing news.

Azrael, his face now framed with intrigue, turned his eyes towards me and began to relay the unsettling tale. "So, I detected something," he began, leaning forward slightly as if to emphasize the gravity of the situation. "Maybe around a few hours ago, I noticed a strange energy movement. It was unlike anything I'd ever sensed before."

His voice was a mixture of curiosity and concern, his brows furrowing as he delved into the perplexing details. "It's like it's in the layers of this world, hidden from our view," Azrael explained, searching for the right words to describe the enigmatic phenomenon. "Like it's in the air itself, woven into the very fabric of our reality, but invisible to our eyes."

The idea that this strange energy was "hidden from view" and seemed to be "like in the air" was clearly bad news. It was a cause for concern, to say the least. In the intricate tapestry of the demon world, anything that defied detection was bound to be unsettling.

I couldn't help but probe further, curiosity getting the better of me. "Where is it?" I inquired, my voice tinged with both fascination and apprehension.

Azrael's response was laden with an air of uncertainty. "Unclaimed territory, close to mine," he said. "But when I went there, I didn't find anything tangible. It's as if the source is elusive, but its power is undeniably strong." He frowned, his brows furrowing in frustration, and the confusion in his tone was all too evident.

A heavy silence descended upon the room as we processed the implications of Azrael's discovery.
