The Incubus System Chapter 760. The Senator II

The Incubus System Chapter 760. The Senator II

Ethan’s PoV

With a calm demeanor that belied the gravity of the situation, I gazed at Eldric, a faint smile playing upon my lips. "Not even a greeting, I see…" I remarked, my voice laced with a touch of mockery. Though my expression remained unchanged, a simmering intensity pulsed beneath the surface.

Eldric, his voice tinged with trepidation, responded with forced politeness, "You are right. Pardon my rudeness. Good evening, Mr. Demon." Fear seeped into his words, revealing the cracks in his facade. His hand moved with desperate stealth, attempting to press the emergency button discreetly, hoping to summon aid unbeknownst to me. Yet, realization dawned upon him in an instant—he was frozen, paralyzed, his body held captive by an unseen force. A pallor washed over his face, a haunting testament to the terror that gripped him.

I allowed a momentary silence to linger, savoring the power imbalance in the air. Eldric's vulnerability was laid bare, a stark contrast to the commanding figure he had projected moments ago. His attempt at resistance had been swiftly quashed.

"It's Mr. Great Demon," I interjected, relishing in Eldric's unease. The words dripped from my lips, accompanied by a cunning smirk that painted mischief across my face. The panic emanating from him only fueled my amusement. "I must say, I'm rather impressed with your dedication to work. I had intended to pay a visit to your humble abode, but it seems you're burning the midnight oil tonight. Impatience got the better of me, and so here we are," I explained, my tone laced with a hint of mocking amusement.

Eldric remained silent, his focus solely fixated on breaking free from the invisible shackles that bound him. He strained against the invisible force that held him captive, his determination etched across his face. His body convulsed with the effort, no longer concealing his desperate attempts to regain control. It was evident that he had also come to the realization that my influence extended beyond his physical restraints—I had already ensnared the driver with my Manipulation skill.

Reclining further into the seat, I crossed my legs, exuding an air of casual confidence. Tilting my head slightly, I regarded Eldric with a mixture of amusement and intrigue. The power imbalance between us was palpable, and I relished in the knowledge that I held all the cards.

"Oh, right. I already have bound you, so please don't waste your time trying to break free," I taunted, my tone dripping with mocking superiority. It was a reminder of his helplessness, a stark contrast to the formidable persona he had projected moments ago.

Eldric, in a final display of defiance, continued to fight against his restraints, but it soon became evident that his struggles were in vain. Gradually, his muscles slackened, the tension easing from his body as the realization set in that escape was an impossibility.

Impatient to delve into our conversation, he finally yielded, his voice laced with a mix of frustration and anxiety. "What do you want?" he demanded, his words punctuated with an underlying tone of desperation.

A knowing smile played upon my lips as I reassured him, my voice adopting a casual tone. "I simply want to talk. There's no need to be afraid. After all, I don't bite," I responded, my words carrying a hint of playful mischief. I reveled in the discomfort that flickered across his face, for he knew all too well the truth behind my words.

"But you kill," Eldric retorted, a displeased edge to his voice.

My lips curled into a sinister smirk, and I leaned closer to him, my voice dropping to a low, menacing register. "But I don’t bite, right?" I replied, punctuating my statement with a low, evil chuckle. I chose not to reveal the extent of my human casualties, not wanting to provide him with any false sense of security.

Eldric's eyes widened slightly, his expression shifting from anger to a subtle mix of fear and understanding. It was a revelation that struck deep, a glimpse into the terrifying truth that I was more than a mere mortal adversary.

His panic escalated, his desperation seeping into every word, I watched with a mixture of amusement and mild annoyance. "Shit! Help!" he screamed, frantically turning to the window, his gaze fixed on the car trailing closely behind us. His hope was pinned on the presence of his loyal bodyguards, praying that they would catch sight of his distress.

With a sigh, I collected myself, my demeanor shifting from playful mockery to a more somber tone. "Ha... I merely wished to engage in conversation, yet you persist in this futile resistance," I remarked, a tinge of disappointment lacing my words. "It seems I must resort to more persuasive methods."

Drawing upon the power within me, I closed my grip around Eldric's face, my touch exerting a force that transcended the physical realm. In a swift motion, I unleashed my Mind Corruption.

‘Read. All about the demon hunter organization.’

I closed my eyes as a series of information entered my head, including about my father and the organization's secret weapon. What surprised me, he and most of the senators never knew the hunters except through data. They didn't want to, to be precise. I absorbed the implications of their deliberate ignorance. It was a strategic choice, a means to distance themselves emotionally from the hunters and their plight. By maintaining a veil of detachment, they could approach decisions with calculated logic, uninhibited by the heart's inconvenient tugs.

Releasing my grip on Eldric's face, I opened my eyes and let out an exasperated sigh. "I hate this shit..." I grumbled under my breath, frustration coloring my tone. Politics, the dark underbelly of society, held a power that repulsed me. It was a realm steeped in deception and manipulation, where truth was elusive and loyalty a mere illusion. Yet, it was in this realm that all human power seemed to reside.

Shaking off my momentary vexation, I focused my attention on Eldric once more. There was still work to be done, loose ends to tie up. With a renewed sense of purpose, I invoked my skill once again, its energy surging between us.

"Alter," I commanded, my voice infused with authority. "You take the side of Mrs. Clea, following her every instruction. You will support her without question. Furthermore, you will forget that you ever encountered me tonight."
