sadness - lifted may blue

(refer to previous post for context) as well as an "old songs 2015" compilation, I'm also compiling unrelease/unfinished music from 2014. I have 8 songs that I will release as a compilation on bandcamp whenever it's all ready. in this are included "in january (2021 remaster)", "as one goodbye was always the last (2021 remaster)", and also prayer and "touch hour on early autumn flying" and a few more songs you'll see  soon. when I say "unfinished" I don't mean I'm just going to release a half finished song, the songs that were never fully finished at the time I go in and complete them, just many years later. in the case of this song it was just missing a vocal track. i shared the instrumental version of this on my facebook in november 2014 but listening to it recently I really felt like it needed something as far as vocals go, just simple though, like they are here, decorating the foreground with hidden words. I made the instrumental for this song in may of 2014, and i can vividly recall what that time in my life felt like, in al its color as well. for the vocals I wanted to stay in the spirit of what it was like to be in 2014, I even took the same vocal effect chain that I used on music that old for the vocals here (same as in january to be exact). i wrote the lyrics yesterday while thinking about this song and also may 2014 in general, as inspiration in a way. of course adding to this song many years later removes some of the purity that the song had, and in a way I would argue that trying to "emulate" the spirit of those times now with lyrics and vocals isnt genuine  but I'm good at recalling and remarking very specific moods and tonalities from my past, as memories and the colors of moments and the way things feel are extremely important to me and I cherish them and hold them in their totality. but anyway the vocal side isn't trying to be something it's not, if anything its a new and current way of me being inspired by a distant memory of mine. the outro of this song actually went on for several minutes longer than this but it's genuine nonsense so I let it fade out sooner than later. I was literally playing absolute gibberish with my guitars and drums (the outro was actually tracked in november 2014 and not may 2014). the song title was actually going to be "perfect lifted blue" but I realized that those words, and the words I wrote for the song could be better transmitted in a whoe new song, I want to make a song dedicated to this imagery and capture it in all its essence. but that stil doesn't remove its significance to this song, so this song is more like a precursor and will be called "lifted may blue", because it's not quite "perfect" . the month of May inherently can have a very vibrant blue color, when I think of may evenings in particular (well this is the entire season of spring really) but the fact that it was may of 2014, 2014 being blue, and literally in my memories of may 2014, the music I made and especially this song is steeping in blue. blue like water, evening spring rain, but this dreamlike essence, my personal 2014. this song is just very blue to me, and everything about the way I decided to revisit it with lyrics and vocals wants to capture this may blue mood that I associate with this song. anyway expect a better song for this story and imagery to be made at some point, although the music here is still cool and nostalgic

------------

blue as perfect lifted mirrorrain

as translucent tears in your eyes

holding so pure the few years in your hands

as blue as a may evening

somewhere suspending in a perfect dream I take your hand, as running along the softness of your arm

something in the blood in your hands

the light through your tiny veins

it makes me cry

holding your hand like rain slipping through treeflowers

interlacing our fingers

as perfect as this time and place is your beautiful face

and we run through mirror rain

in a deep blue may sunset

the rain melts into our eyes

it sinks in our skin

we run so far away
