A Message from the Author - Does anything in this Draft of Volume 3 not make logical sense/frustrate you/irritate you? Please, Private Message me about that so I can be made aware and can check that issue!
Added 2020-02-23 03:00:22 +0000 UTCFirst and foremost:
This post goes out to anyone that is frustrated or annoyed by something in the story!
If anything in what is released of Volume 3 does not make logical sense, seems extraordinarily improbable--even considering that Micheal has detailed knowledge of the future + 10 years experience + very high skill + perfect memory--, or otherwise feels "off" to you, please privately Patreon message me about this sometime over the next week! I'm going to go through all my messages soon, this will be the best way for me to see your issue!
--If you are going to mention any specifics, please only private message me! If you are going to leave a public comment here, don't spoil anything past Chapter ~30! Everyone reading this should be at least that far along (public release is around there)--
I want to hear from you guys and I know I'm not perfect, so I'm all ears! I want to make the story as enjoyable as possible and resolve any issues y'all might have!
After I finish the last few chapters of the book (I'm writing them now), I'm going to start full-revision mode. (I've already made many offline notes)
Other things I will be fixing are:
- Typos/Misspelled words/Places where I left out a word or used the wrong word
- Structural corrections (ie, making sure the story feels fluid, ensuring that each arc smoothly leads into the next, proper foreshadowing)
- Remove bits of excess detail (As I said in a separate post, in a few certain chapters, I went into great detail, which was fun to write buuut... In my opinion, it slowed the story down too much/even felt a bit repetitive in one part. I've made some offline edits in that regard. Specifically, from around Chapter 51 to Chapter 54/55. I'll probably reduce these 4 chapters down into 3 chapters, or maybe 2 really long ones.)
Tl:dr - If you have an issue with something in Volume 3, Private Message me about it via Patreon! I will go through all messages over the next several days.

I agree about some of the world building. It seems thrown in randomly and will be several pages long. Sometimes in the middle of a fight or during something else happening. Sad to say eventually I’d just blow right by the extra walls of text. I’d also like to be involved in the process, much of the time Mike’s plans are described retroactively. Having a retroactive detailed description of his prior plans and actions in the middle of a fight becomes incredibly distracting. Some of his preparation could be written in the present moment when it happens instead of a past tense reveal.

2022-07-24 05:48:27 +0000 UTCAnd that's acceptable but he's mentioned that he's done writing book three and is focusing on book four now. He also stated that book three was supposed to be submitted to Amazon sometime last month. The problem I am having is him not responding to questions. And then moving on to later book in the series without ensuring that the inbetween book is ready for us. I can understand delays due to RL, it's been a fairly crappy 2 years but the lack of communication / not getting the third book ready before he focused on writing book four just felt like a bad call IMPO. Hence my previous comment about no longer wasting my time looking for his book, if it shows up then I will grab it, if it doesn't I no longer have expectations of him getting it done so I'm not frustrated while waiting. ))) And I felt mentioning that in a public forum was the best way to let him know that some of the people who are fans of his series are disappointed in him atm. But thank you for responding and letting me know that there was actual reasons for the delays.

2021-04-10 18:38:48 +0000 UTCHe is rewriting book 3, he wrote it while trying a new medication and felt that it didn't feel like his normal style. It was on amazon last year but was removed for the rewrite, it should be back up soon. He's still writing just apparently keeps having problems in life like he got sick for a while and had to move.

2021-04-10 16:35:55 +0000 UTCOr I guess you can just ignore people asking questions, not let people know about your books who are interested in giving you money for them.... /shrug Wonderful way to keep people interested in your work, especially considering that you still haven't released book 3 yet, and are working on book 4..... Guess I'll just remove you from the list of authors to keep an eye on.

2021-03-17 14:16:33 +0000 UTCSo I've seen people talking about book three, you mention putting it on Amazon.... But for some reason it's not up for sale. And it seems you stopped writing on book four almost a year ago, so are you still doing the author thing, or should we give up on getting more books in the series from you?

2021-01-24 05:59:07 +0000 UTCI feel like some of micheal attacks should be sensed by the souls of the ape worriers. the fact that they keep getting surprised (especially the white monkeys on the roof) is unrealistic from what we know of the soul.

2020-04-07 01:17:06 +0000 UTCI just finished reading book three through Amazon Kindle. I loved it. I must have read it almost nonstop, but I purposely slowed myself down because I was constantly checking the percent complete fearing that I'm almost at the end. The only book recently that I swallowed up this past was Will Wight's latest unsouled installment. My few comments: some of the paragraphs that happened during seconds of combat made sense while others distracted from the combat. Overall I can imagine in my head most of the combat as you described it as if I had a slow motion movie playing out in my head which was great. However sometimes when you broke off to explain something in the middle and then resume the combat I was a bit lost so maybe placing it separately or keeping those shorter. I really like the growth that Micheal experienced but I lost on some of the l i t r p g parts because we didn't see him looking through the store or gaining points too frequently throughout the chapters. I enjoyed the RPG parts so I'm hoping we can see more of them incorporated into the next book. I did think you were going to do more with his passenger but overall it seemed like they spoke very little even though they probably see the world very similarly. I could have imagined conversations explaining more of the past or second past through these conversations. Overall I would actually rank this as and as good if not better book than the ones before it. I liked your slight change of style and I enjoyed the overall epic feeling. Keep up the great work!

2020-04-05 20:21:14 +0000 UTCI don't really know if you still do that thing were people could message you but at worst you'll ignore me so w.e. Anyways i think your writing pacing and anything really are amazing, good job but one thing that irks me a little is that you sometimes spend times an (for me personally) somewhat useless world-building and it distracts from the moment. i am not against world building per se nor do i know where else to put it (not a writer). Another minor thing is that you repeat stuff like powers or skill (personally not against it as I like that stuff). Thanks for writing The following is nothing related to you potentially improving so you can ignore it if you want. So uh i don't want to sound repetitive (pretty sure you already got asked stuff like this) or ungrateful but do you still make chapters free and if so when? Weekly, every 2 weeks, monthly, or something else?

2020-03-29 19:15:09 +0000 UTCThe third book was my favorite in the series, though I would like to discuss the overlong explanations you reference at the end of book 3. First off, I disagree with you that the explanations are the problem. The detail can add to the excitement (for me at least). I think the problem you are seeing is that you use after-the-fact explanations for ex machina artifacts. For example, there's a certain scene where Micheal gets some people 'stoned' in a manner of speaking, with the use of a special artifact. The explanation would have been much briefer and would have seemed much more clever, had the audience been introduced to the artifact and its properties earlier on. That way the explanation can be shortened and the audience can look back and think "oh, I see what he did there" instead of needing a full backstory after the action's already been played out. Along those same lines, it's ok to explain a bit more as you go rather than having an action sequence and then an instant replay. The latter setup should only really be used at the climax when multiple, seemingly unrelated aspects of a story suddenly just fit alongside very limited cutaways the audience wasn't aware of (think Ocean's 11). Otherwise, go into the detail while the result is still in flux. It builds up the suspense and keeps the audience engaged. Next, limit your introductions of cannon fodder. There are at least 3 characters that were either specifically designed to show the power of someone else by looking strong and then getting redshirted by someone else, or were propped up as a major antagonist only to be made to be defeated by a different antagonist off-stage. Either way, it's not an optimal use of your writing space/time. You can just as easily accomplish the same task with a bit of light foreshadowing or an epic fight scene. Lastly, there's a lot of good action and plot that's off-staged for some reason. There are 2 return characters who had major conflicts that would have been fun to read and could have established growth and motivation. All that being said, I am legitimately excited for book 4, and your writing skills improve with every book you publish. Keep up the good work.
2020-03-27 03:54:13 +0000 UTCHow do the gloves work? Like there are a couple of times when he says he uses them defensively as a cocoon, how do ultra thin threads that aren't that long protect his whole body? And when it says he "sends them into the ground", that means he threw them into the ground and then manipulates them (presumably somehow with an energy that makes things sharp) into resurfacing and being positioned to hurt his enemies?

2020-02-27 23:33:36 +0000 UTCSo, does Sword Energy still have tiers or no? In the published volume 1 of Re:Apocalypse, Sword Energy just exists and Basic, Advanced, Master, and so on just changed to how much you could wield and how you could manipulate it, in Volume 2 the tiers come back and certain things are gated, like you need at least Advanced Weapon Mastery to destroy a Nest. It seems now Sword Energy is again like it was changed in Vol 1. The second I've commented on before, but there is a disconnect between the Shop's Stats & Abilities and Ki Cultivation. Like there were no hard limits placed on what Ki can do. The things we've seen so far based on Ki-manipulation is "bloodlust" pressure/stunning, configuring internal Ki pathways, massive power boosts (the Dragon Building Liquid & Braken Enhancement Fluid focused on Ki iirc), curing poisons, and closing wounds. Maybe a few other things I'm forgetting. All of these could be Shop abilities, but they are all bundled up in Ki Cultivator. Imho it should be changed that Ki Cultivator is simply the same as other Stat boosting abilities like Herculean Strength or w/e Micheal had before, except with a higher Stat ceiling and spread across all Stats, which seemed to be the original direction the Ability was intended to be. If the manipulation of Ki was instead indeed intended as has been written so far, then it needs to be explained how the Stats control and modify the ability, and what the actual limits are for manipulating this energy. Can you do Ki blasts? Can you fly with Ki? Can you control beasts with Ki? As for body improvement, do you burn Ki or do you just need to stay alive and let Ki cycle and reinforce the cells? Does Ki physically affect the body (make bone denser, increase mass, idk), or simply increase Stats? And the Stats in general need more of an explanation. We know a high Soul stat allows for more Impacts and more Life Orbs in Micheal's other abilities, and using higher abilities of Sword Mastery. How does Soul affect Ki Cultivation? We've yet to see any meaningful instance of the Recovery Stat coming into play. I remember the one time we saw Sophia's Stat screen, did Recovery help her heal her eyes? As far as I know, she was just healed with other people's Abilities, healing pills, and bedrest. Micheal has Life Orbs so he doesn't count. Pirate Lord Brandon lost an arm and was fine-ish for a bit, what was his Recovery? Strength and Endurance are self-explanatory in what they do, but are they simply a concise reflection into how strong you are, or do they directly manipulate your interactions with physics? Meaning, can a scrawny, untrained lookin' dude have a massive Strength and Endurance value that would make him near-invincible? When Micheal used the energy from the tomb explosion or w/e, how drastically did his appearance change (with a near 30+ Strength increase)? I'd like to know, but it's only a small suspension of disbelief, and my bias is showing in reading other game-like worlds with Stats. Because clearly they are not in actual reality, how else do they have a Shop? Global illusions for every individual? I bet this will eventually be explained, but the explanation for this reality is constantly on my mind. Also apparently going back in time is possible with a wish-ring, which only breaks reality even further, making it seem like EVERYTHING the MC is experiencing is actually a dream/simulation. At least slowing time down or speeding it up is possible with manipulating gravity irl, so the Brand of Janus is not a very massive suspension. Although irl relies more on relative speed, so (I'm assuming what the Brand is doing) changing the constant of the speed of light is another suspension of disbelief here. Just my two cents.

2020-02-27 23:05:37 +0000 UTCHi! I was just wondering if you were still making chapters free to non-patron readers after a certain amount of chapters, because I haven't seen the amount of unlocked chapters increase in a while. Thank you!

2020-02-23 03:41:06 +0000 UTCLong reply warning! I had wanted to release it at the end of this month, but realistically, given how much time I will need to spend editing, it will probably get released on Amazon at the start of next month. Also: Chapters of Volume 4 will start going live after Volume 3 ends (I've already finished Volume 4, Chapter 1, actually!). There will be some time lag for the lower tiers as I get the higher tiers properly caught up. Also, also, tangent: Many months from now, after I get at least Volume 3 and Volume 4 out on Amazon, I'm *probably* planning on modifying the Patreon Tiers. There was a time in my life where I was struggling to get by and you Patreons saved me, in the truest sense. If not for y'all, I wouldn't be here in the place I am today. To my great delight, after many years, as of around 3 months ago, I have gained enough Patreons that, when combined with my relatively new source of income from Amazon, I am able to stably write full-time without stressing over making ends meet, whether that be from bills, debt, or other things I handle each month. (I've only been on Amazon for less than a year!) After releasing 2 Volumes on Amazon, Amazon income over time seems to be consistent and increasing, as long as I keep writing. If things keep growing and stay consistent after Volume 4 hits Amazon, I should be in a secure enough spot that I won't need to rely on my Patreons as much! Maybe I'm being a little too optimistic about how soon, but I've got high hopes :) Eventually, I should reach that point! When it does happen, I plan on 1) removing the inactive support Tiers and 2) modifying the active support Tiers. For example, I might lower Tier 20's price to $10, instead of $20, etc, similar things for the other Tiers. This is a decision I'll make many months from now, but I wanted to share my plan for those that might be curious!
