Release 2.7.6 and the Road Ahead

Hello friends! Thank you so much for your support to KeePassXC over the years. We have recently released version 2.7.6 that contains a few bug fixes and new features. We are focused on our next major release from here on out!

We anticipate 2.8.0 to be a bit of a game changer for KeePassXC, here are some of the most impactful changes we are working on:

We look forward to building this release and continue to improve KeePassXC as the best open-source password manager in the world!

Now let's do a fun poll, which 2.8.0 feature are you most excited about?

Comments

Good morning I use KeepassXC to store ToTPs in a database totally separate from the main one and I would like to propose for a future version the development of displaying the ToTP number in the list in a column of the entry display and not only in the CTRL+SHIFT+T window, e.g. Title, ToTP number, Username, URL, etc.... Good suggestion! I don't use Wayland yet, but wondering, does KeepassXC work at all on Wayland currently? Just curious.

I've noticed this too sometimes though not often enough to warrant it being an issue for me. It is usually quite fluid except for the odd site that is just built really poorly (which is not KeepassXC's fault).

I'm basically happy with KeepassXC as is, so long as we can keep up with the latest, most secure cryptography standards! This is the only way I store my passwords now! One thing that would be cool (maybe this already is possible) is the ability to unlock with multiple options individually. Say I have a password and a Yubikey, I could have either one be able to individually unlock the database (not requiring both), thus one could be a backup way to unlock, say, if I'm worried about forgetting my password or losing my Yubikey. Just an idea.

Like Gigachad I'm very satisfied with what I have already, though would find QuickUnlock helpful (a saving grace in Android). I can't get excited about Default Entry Layouts as I find the current flexibility in Notes invaluable for recording all the varying security quirks and requirements in different accounts. I was interested in the discussions on KeeShare, which I don't use . I'm always concerned about a synchronised file getting inadvertently modified incorrectly. I give each device a local copy of the same database and then periodically (erratically I admit) transfer one file to another device to be merged with that file and the merged file then sent back to the originator. I use KDEConnect for this which works fine and securely for my purposes. I agree the new importers would be great for extending the accessibility of KeePassXC. Looking forward to seeing 2.8.0!

Already extremely satisfied with the product you've created for the world. All of these improvements sound great, but 1Password & Bitwarden imports are a great step towards better widespread adoption. I'd like to see the product become more attractive to those not already inclined to use FOSS based technologies like KeePassXC.

GigaChad

I would love to see auto-type support on Wayland!

I'd love to see fewer keypresses/clicks necessary in general while using KeePassXC-Browser Firefox on Linux. I can't be more specific right now, but sometimes the extension seems to not know that a file is unlocked in KeePassXC, and I have to click a refresh button in the browser.

Good point, that will also be in 2.8.0

I'd love it if the WebAuthn/Passkey support makes it into 2.8.0. https://github.com/keepassxreboot/keepassxc-browser/pull/1786

I'm happy with KPXC as is and don't need any of these changes, but am happy to help support changes that people want.
