Community Update: Summer is here! - June 6, 2024
Added 2024-06-06 16:26:36 +0000 UTCHey Everyone, I hope you are doing well!
NOTE: I am working on some explainer videos for the summer on Philly, Boston, the Rhine-Ruhr region, and Rome, so if you have any footage or might be travelling to these places please send me a direct message! Or comment!
Since I've already talked about most of my summer video plans, I wanted to provide a brief update on the "shape" of the rest of the year for me.
Next week I will be presenting to the AQTr, which is a group composed of transport professionals and agencies in the Canadian province of Quebec, it's the first time I have done something like this and I am quite excited.
Coming off of that trip the rest of the summer will be mostly "head down", slowly going through the early released videos, rerecording sections, making improvements and the like, while also keeping the regular video pipeline moving along.
In September (I am not quite sure when yet) I will be going on a bit of a sabbatical for a few months, during that time the videos I have been early releasing will come out to the public and while I will still be on here things may slow down a bit (typically I try and respond to everything that happens on Patreon and respond to messages within a week), but they will keep moving.
There's a lot of work ahead, but I have made a lot of progress this year. My work life balance has improved, I am way healthier (have lost a lot of weight), and I am feeling excited about what's to come!
Thanks for your support!

2024-06-13 17:16:34 +0000 UTCRe Philly. Would be interesting to compare NJ & PA sides. PATCO in NJ: fast, frequent and almost driverless, but limited south NJ passenger rail. SEPTA: the reverse. Some years ago, SEPTA considered one car trains in off hours, which would reduce staff needs; but found two cars were needed to reliably activate switches. So they ran two, with one usually closed. Someone else can tell you present situation.

University City is good place for people on the wrong train at 30th Street to switch to the Airport line. :>) Search online for "Swarthmore College" and SEPTA, to learn about the UPass program. A video at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uIX6YlNNc8k has an interesting interview with manager of West Chester Railroad tourist line about conflicts with possible revival of SEPTA commuter rail from Wawa to West Chester. Others may be able to tell you of SEPTA commuter rail bottlenecks going on and off NEC. BTW: there is a great local group, Delaware Valley Rail Passengers Association (DVARP),. I'll bet you Commentor Anthony DeSantis is the Tony DeSantis who is a DVARP officer. He probably could help you answer a lot of questions.
