The Decimation of Men's Volleyball

[The story is set in the same universe as “Decimation of Men’s Basketball”]

The previously all boys Nokoso College has now become co-ed and that has brought along a few new problems. There is only so much space for men and women sports teams to practice.

Since the men were already there first, the girl’s sports team have been kind of left without a place to practice during the day.

Even with such disadvantages, the broadcasts of the girl’s games do much better than the boy’s team in terms of viewership. It just seems the women’s games are much more exciting to watch for people. The girl’s volleyball team has games that are extremely high paced and full of magnificent high octane plays every minute. Whereas the boy’s are kind of slow and have very few play-making moments throughout their matches.

The men were not ready to admit this though. “People just watch girl’s for their looks, nothing else, they shouldn’t have ever been allowed in sports” said the captain of the Nokoso College Men’s. Indeed girls have only recently been allowed to compete in sports, but contrary to the captain's beliefs, there have been whispers that girls have been outperforming men in the few instances they play against each other.

The issue of gym and practice space for the volleyball team was brought up to the Nokoso college board. Both teams were called to present their arguments, but the men were unwilling to compromise whatsoever. “To let these freshman girls dig into our practice time would be an extreme waste of university resources” Kenji , the men’s captain said, and similar notions were parroted by his team. The men on the school board seemed to agree as well.

“But the girls' broadcasts do better numbers and bring in more money” one female board member argued on behalf of the girls.

“That is just because people like to watch eye candy, and that's all the girls are, Eye Candy”, Kenji fired back angrily, “We have to build players up, and promote the players that actually have potential and a future in the sport AFTER college, we cannot be sacrificing men’s careers just so the girls can play dress-up and look pretty” 

The normally quiet Akari, the captain of the girl’s volleyball team, finally spoke up, “Well there’s an easy way to solve this, we can just play for it, best of 5, whoever wins gets the gym” she said while still annoyed at the boy’s captain's previous comment. 

“Ha, great idea, after we finish you, can we just disband the girl’s team altogether?” Kenji said and his team chuckled arrogantly.

Akari was fuming and said, “Sounds good, so whoever loses will disband their team for good, is that okay with the board?”

The board looked at each other a little confused and perplexed, but after a few moments, they agreed. It would be better for the college if their resources were not split so thin between 2 teams.

First game Results- Girls: 25 Boys:0

Mai: Lol WTF, that was so quick, I barely got to hit the ball.

Aiko: I know!! I mean I knew we were better, but that was the easiest game we’ve ever played by far.

Emi: Pfft, why don’t we just do 2 of us against them for the next matches. At least we could have some fun.

Akari: Guys! This is serious, our future depends on it.

Captain Akari was the only one still taking the game seriously.

Mai: C’mon cap’, Pleeeease! let us do a handicap match against them.

Aiko: YES!! How much fun would that be? Remember what they were saying at the board meeting captain?

Mai and Aiko always knew how to convince Akari of anything.

Akari: Fine.. just be serious about it atleast okay, a lot is riding on this.

Mai: Lol, Captain, you just saw them play…, we can probably beat them blind folded hahahaha. 

They proceeded to play the next game as a 2 v 4 handicap match.

Game 2 results - Girls: 25 Boys: 0

Mai: LOL BOYS!, last chance, you're down 2 games in a best of 5.

Aiko: Say goodbye to your careers boys, but seriously, what is the point of a career if you can’t even beat 2 freshmen in a handicap match LOL.

Mai: Here’s what we will do for you, next game we will play to 100 pts, except you only need 5 to win, sound good?

Mai was being extremely patronizing followed by Aiko doing the same. 

Aiko: haha, good idea Mei, at least they might have a chance to get back into this best of 5, pffft as if….lol

The men hadn’t scored a single point all day. The look of absolute dread was etched to each of their faces before the third game.

In the third game, both girls kicked it up a notch. Aiko actually spiked the ball so hard one time, that it hit one of the men in the face before he could even react, straight up knocking him out for several seconds. The nurse had to come and check on him to make sure he didn’t have a concussion. The Skill gap was insane.

Game 3 results - Girls: 100 Boys: 0

The men started crying profusely out of pure humiliation, as it was essentially the end of their careers as volleyball players.

Aiko: Oops, think we went a little overboard, haha..
