Figuring out cover styles

Hey everyone!

Quick question for you all, as you know this story best: which of the three cover styles above do you think would work best for Thrones of the Fallen? Which is likely to help it find the broadest audience? I've a sneaking suspicion I missed the mark with the current one (B), but don't want to double down on that mistake for when the book eventually finds its way to Amazon and Audible.

(A and C are AI-generated, and are here simply to help get a sense of which approach to take - I'd hire a real artist to do the final, actual cover.)

Using the above as references, do you think I should go for:

Thanks!

A with the hope that the story becomes more A than it ever is B

I like A

Kent

I'd say C but very close with B

Nathan217

A, but make it gory, with them being in a fight or something more unique

Dual.

I’m possibly the only person here who will say this, but B, with a less edgy font. C is just mundane and A misses the grittier, more mature and more macabre aspect that sets this story apart. I really like A; it’s upbeat and magical and full of a sense of hope based on profound camaraderie. But that means it’s just not a good reflection of the story, which turns on the ever-shifting balance between the brokenness of its various characters and their often unwilling attempts at atonement. It simply isn’t awash with the boundless optimism that A so beautifully conveys.

Dang, it's hard to say! I quite like both A and C – perhaps A a little bit more. I suppose you could combine them in a sense, in the form of the cover being a depiction of the shuddering.

I like A better although that’s not at all what I’ve pictured the square looking like. Tbh I’ve never been a fan of the current cover. But I also think a more straightforward, simple cover of just the triangle portal entrance in a similarish style to Cradle’s covers would be fantastic

A is the most interesting to me, but I also think that a cover with an actual dice on it would turn me off a book a bit. Just because in my experience those kind of stories are a little too in your face with the game mechanics. Cover A with a darker tone would be the best in my opinion. The polyhedron lower and darker in color, guards at the entrance to the gate, and then maybe Harald with a demonic shadow, or the demon prince lounging atop the polyhedron almost out of view? Of the covers shown C is probably the best.

Sickul

A I think as B and C just remind of other series too much

Fast Lance

B and C are pretty edgy, and I feel like they don't reflect the full nature of the story. I think something like A, where it's hopeful and it's like staring at a tesseract also. And maybe just add a twinge of something dark to reflect the nature of Flotic and the dungeon

I like A giving a visual to a hard to visualize (for me) area that they frequently go to. I’ve never pictured any of it as overly colorful though, but more drab like everything’s a bit in disrepair bc of the lack of funds, but maybe that’s a misinterpretation by me

A or C

Kelly Flynn

A is very interesting and does draw the eye with the multicolor-hedron thing. C is excellent and to the point.

ShivaMcTimber

A or C personally love c

Aaron Brooking

C!

Lorenz

A is unique.

Bunnydiction

And the houses should be further from the gate

Josh Cothran

A but they need the dwarf in it

Josh Cothran

I like C the best.

Mark Timmony

C all the way

Kronos

You know I'm a sucker for landscape covers like A

John Bierce

I'd go with C myself. I like A, but it doesn't match the vibe of Harald being the main character. B doesn't seem to fit and never has because the color I associate most with Harald isn't a demonic red but the black of shadows and the Abyss. C though.... That shows Harald doing what Harald does well, murdering the absolute balls off of monsters. II vote C

You fool, Warren is dead!

I prefer A

I think B misses the mark by a country mile. It's a lot and overwrought. A or C for sure. I have a personal preference for A - it evokes possibility, mystery, adventure, and camaraderie for me. But I don't mind the the action of C, even if it's a bit less evocative for me.

Zero__PD

A for the polyhedron and the whole gang

Jeremy Russell

I personally think B & C are the way to go, as we're mostly in Flutic and the Dungeon and the tone of the story and setting seem to align better with those covers, imo. I also get a sense of desperation with Harald & co's group, the decline of Flutic, the Fallen Angel's war against the Demons and such just to put some examples into my reasoning. The first cover feels more upbeat and mystical which doesn't feel as accurate.

C

Zackary McFarland

A. I see this developing into a story of friendships and get a little more of that feel from A.

Paul1441

I would go with C. I think it would be one of the cooler book covers I’ve seen for this genre.

L Ko

I like A with C as a close second. Loving the story so far!

E

I like A mainly because it stands out. It’s a unique and identifiable aspect of this story.

Acoga

I like A and C 😊 if I had to choose maybe C a bit more
