This week: progress on DUNE

Hello!
I tell what I do on Dune this week.

I adapted Chani and the Guild navigator to the new engine. I changed a bit the design of the navigator. The face was weird, and I changed the skull shape. It's half a big brain like in David Lynch's version, half a haircut.

And, I worked on Dune's map. The basic idea is "I want to see Dune alive, with its ecosystem." Like in the book, the Spice comes from under the sand and reach the surface after an explosion. To have a good harvest, the player should send Fremen at the place. But they should hurry because a sandworm can come and eat that spice.
This kind of mechanic were used in the  Avalon Hill's Dune boardgame, of 1979. And I liked that game a lot.

not sure how Chani could be disliked...(as opposed to "i think X or Y is hotter" which to me is a different yardstick)...as each character has their own personality in this game.

Haha!... I hope you built your own pictures in mind and don't see big boobs everywhere. Good stuffs in Chapter House. I like how Frank Herbert take risks with his universe... It's strange how Duncan Idaho became kind of the hero of the cycle. It was so unexpected after Dune1.

Thank you for your support. Me too, I can't wait for that version 2 to be as far as the V1... I'm not sure I will ever consider that game finish... every hot summer makes me want to add stuffs :)

Great to see your polishing on this awesome game and universe... I hope Shani love scene will be improved as well, it's sadly still a bit rough (lack some animations on many parts and has clipping issues in the animated parts...). And Shani is soo lovely, in your version as in the original movie, she could get more love, like Jessica did. ;)

I did not mentioned it, but I worked a lot on Vega Hunter this week. Since my idea is to draw more and code less, there is a transition period where I mostly adapt old graphs for my developer. Maybe I should post about the progress like I just did for Dune. Nothing very new though on Vega Hunters.... I added a few boring animations like opening doors, transition screens, clothed disappearing less abruptly.

It's cool seeing you come back to this game and revamping it
