Which ways of coloring characters do you prefer? I'm seriously questioning for my next game.

2017-05-17 14:05:10 +0000 UTCI think A works better for illustrations and B for animated stuff.

2017-05-08 13:56:33 +0000 UTCThank you Allwoodman. I do my best at least... I think it's a lot of money though. I say to myself it's compensation for the hard years of the past and the future.
2017-04-29 10:37:31 +0000 UTCThank you AleM. All this story is so unexpected.
2017-04-28 16:03:50 +0000 UTCCongratulations, you deserve it!!!

2017-04-24 13:28:28 +0000 UTCThank you for this critic. It made me realize I have to find another way. I did a third one. I show it very soon.
2017-04-24 07:55:32 +0000 UTCOh! I have put the last version of the game on a site: http://davidgoujard.com/btd.html I will write a post about it. Nothing new, It's just suppose to be a good english.
2017-04-24 07:53:11 +0000 UTCThank you Gasjg!
2017-04-24 07:51:37 +0000 UTCThank you for your ideas. Colored outlines is a possibilty. I think I found a way. You'll see very soon. It's not colored lines but thinner lines.
2017-04-24 07:50:47 +0000 UTCI have find a mix between the two. I show you soon.

2017-04-23 23:37:20 +0000 UTCI love your style. But the outlines give the wonderful imaginative cartoon style a more definitive. Like this girl is to good for RL but I could kind of see it :D
Mikey
2017-04-23 01:39:23 +0000 UTCI think the lines are best used as outlines where the object inside the line is clearly distant from the objects outside the line. For example the lines around the forearm, breasts and face are perfect in B but the colouring of the eyes, lips, and hair are better in A. Also if you look at the staircase in the background of B, that's a good example of mixing the two. It was a difficult choice because the coloured lighting in A is really cool, but in the end I voted for B.

2017-04-22 23:03:27 +0000 UTCHonestly, either or is fine, your style really fits both! But each type(line or no line) really has its pros and cons :)
2017-04-22 21:49:04 +0000 UTCThe lines add an element of detail, plus when animation start to overlap and certain backrounds are close in texture or color shapes become lost and the clarity becomes blurry. I think if you used a dark line of the same color instead of just black might work okay. Like skin tones having a dark shade of orange and hair having a darker outline of brown or yellow.

2017-04-22 19:51:33 +0000 UTCFace with no lines looks better.
Purple Star
2017-04-21 11:08:52 +0000 UTCI think lines fit best to your style. Keep up the amazing work!

2017-04-21 08:17:14 +0000 UTCIt's interesting. The one without outlines almost feels like paper where the one on the right just seems like a normal toon drawing. I'm a fan of both styles and wish there was a third option to have you choose since it should be the style you are looking to achieve.

2017-04-20 12:51:16 +0000 UTCLines give more character to your work.
Don
2017-04-20 10:52:23 +0000 UTCHmmm...I like both
2017-04-20 10:42:31 +0000 UTCLove the one without lines! Its very experimental. You should do what you feel you'd benefit learning from. Art is about the experience right?

2017-04-20 01:32:47 +0000 UTCWithout outlines is more Samurai Jack style, and seeing as I am on a Samurai Jack kick at the moment, Go for it!
2017-04-19 20:58:55 +0000 UTCI like that the left girl looks like she's got tan lines on her right boob. I'd love to see bikini marks in that (or some other) cleavage. I think the gal on the left has a cool style that would be cool to expirament with, but the one on the right is in the style that made me love your work in the first place.
2017-04-19 12:09:13 +0000 UTCB is good but we all want to know what A would look like bouncing around
2017-04-19 09:13:27 +0000 UTCI've voted B. It looks more 'finished' but tbh both styles have merits

2017-04-19 06:46:27 +0000 UTCB, There's more "weight" with outlines.

2017-04-19 05:11:48 +0000 UTCDefinitely B. It's not an oil painting :)
Dubsington
2017-04-19 04:14:00 +0000 UTCI agree with this. Hair would look better stylistically without the outlines; not much else.
ZERA
2017-04-19 02:56:04 +0000 UTCB for sure.
2017-04-19 01:05:23 +0000 UTCNo outlines. At all. Looks ways cooler.
Sharkey
2017-04-19 00:12:58 +0000 UTCB - but i will say without lines with your art style would be super cool for like a superhero comic like i could definitely see spider-man drawn in your style without lines and it would look glorious
2017-04-18 22:48:00 +0000 UTCB - definitely.
2017-04-18 20:25:48 +0000 UTCOutlines might help you show off a character's "assets"...

2017-04-18 17:24:16 +0000 UTCNo outlines on the background and hair, but outines on what's remaining ;)
Purple Witch
2017-04-18 16:57:26 +0000 UTCA has better hair and i don't like the red filter on B but i like B's character better (besides the hair)
Silas7
2017-04-18 16:53:58 +0000 UTCI voted B, but I think either would work. However I might have chosen A if the pictures where "the same". It feels like B has better quality on some parts compared to A. (could be the outline making it look better :P )
2017-04-18 16:15:01 +0000 UTCjeeze, way too hard to decide. I like both in different ways! I would say do whichever one is the least work. They both seriously look great!

2017-04-18 16:06:55 +0000 UTCCan I see A but with outlines on the exposed skin only?

2017-04-18 14:35:46 +0000 UTCIt is always dependent on the situation. The image A is ( related to the background ) better and more natural.

2017-04-18 14:31:18 +0000 UTCI prefer the outlines as it seperates the character from the background, without and it'll look to much like an animated painting to my oppinion.

2017-04-18 13:57:32 +0000 UTCI like the outline but prefer the background in A. Breasts look better outlined but the hair doesnt. Maybe adjust the outline colour depending on the area.
2017-04-18 13:53:02 +0000 UTCLooks more real to me with B which is what I prefer personally

2017-04-18 13:52:58 +0000 UTCWith outlines seems to be very popular, but it is in my opinion, the safer choice. I enjoy the borderless artstyle, its got character.
2017-04-18 13:20:55 +0000 UTCI kinda like how the hair and eyes looks without outlines, but the rest of her seems a bit off without them.
