First/Second/Third Person POV stories?
Added 2024-06-28 23:54:29 +0000 UTCThought I'd do another quick poll to see how people feel about stories with a first person point of view (i.e. the Ragatha story I wrote in December and the Interview with a Vampire story). It's been a while since I've done one of those and I've been meaning to try more experimental fics like that again as I go into July, though I'm also curious as to how many stories my patrons read that involve different perspective changes. I find certain angles are usually interchangeable unless I can do something unique, which is what made the Ragatha story fun to do, especially with Pomni getting crushed by ass. I also think it can be fun to try with reader insert/second person POV stories that emphasize personal feelings above all else, even if not every interaction will be the same. It's fun to think about what a reader might think!
So for those of you who have read every example here, do you have a preference on a certain style here and any reason why?

I mostly prefer 3rd POV. Never been a big fan on looking through the eyes of the character.

I don't normally give too many suggestions when I work with someone on that since I want them to have control, however since the story they wanted was fairly long, it allowed me to have some wiggle room to make the narrative more open and twisting. It was definitely good practice I'll admit

2024-06-29 00:00:27 +0000 UTCThat's definitely something I've thought of; maybe going for a Rashomon styled story where the twist is the second person POV is most accurate. I definitely have done first/third person already with a commission I wrote for a client some time ago, so maybe I'll have to do it again soon for something I have planned later on
