Progress Journal, May 2024

Greetings Mythicists! I hope your May has gotten to a good start, with lots of excellent roleplaying :)

So let's see, what is going on in the Mythic world right now ...

Compilations Are Compiling

The softcover print edition of Mythic Magazine Compilation #5 just released on DriveThruRPG. I usually wait until all editions, softcover and hardcover, are ready before releasing but I figured why wait. The softcover proofs arrived and they looked great! Hardcover should follow in a week or two; it takes longer to produce those, apparently, so the proofing copies lag a bit.

Mythic Magazine Compilation #6 is almost done! I just have Jorge's cover to add and a little more editing and proofing to finish. With any luck, that'll go live this month.

I feel like I'm finally caught up when it comes to the Compilations. Some have really lagged behind the magazine volumes. The current magazine issue is #41, with #42 in the works. Since Compilation #6 covers issues 31-36, I'll be all caught up for maybe a week before issue #42 comes out and another Compilation is due lol

I'm also working on getting Compilation #4 and #5 onto Amazon.

Mythic Roleplaying Second Edition

Work continues on Mythic Roleplaying Second Edition. I'm feeling really good about the direction it's taking. I've been spending my time so far on the basic core concepts of the system, the world and setting creation mechanics, and the character building chapter. Those sections are vital since they comprise the core of what makes MRPG2e different from MGME2e.

More and more people are asking me, "When will this come out?" My answer right now: hopefully, by the end of this year. However, I don't want to rush it, and I can't say for sure what will happen the further I get into it.

I am having a lot of fun playtesting it, so hopefully that doesn't delay it too :) My current adventures involve dealing with dinosaurs in a time traveling game, and fighting vampires and other baddies as a mystical botanist in modern Los Angeles.

Making "Creative Commons" Common Knowledge

I think most people aren't aware of the CC-BY-NC Creative Commons license attached to most of my books, so I'm trying to make that more prominent on the website and in the books. I've also officially added most magazine and compilation editions to the list. Most people don't seem to have a problem adapting Mythic and Crafter material to free, community made content, but I'm hoping that promoting the CC license will encourage this more and make it clear.

I'm also trying to highlight community made stuff more on the Resources page of the website. That's a work in progress, but I hope to fill that out more in the coming months.

I think that's about it! I'll just take this moment to add that if you aren't a member of the Mythic Discord, please drop on by! It's a great group of creative people who are super supportive of each other. Here's the invite link: https://discord.gg/vc2YZ9n

Happy adventuring! :)

Most of the Compilations are on Amazon, is that any better for shipping in the EU? I'm trying to spread my books out to a variety of online shippers to try and get the lowest shipping cost depending on where someone is.

Tana Pigeon

If only they were available in physical form in the EU. Importing them makes the cost prohibitive :(

The Last Stormlord

Things are looking great, awesome job with everything you have done! Mythic is the crown jewel of my ever growing, massive RPG library. It is at the center of all my gaming. 2E will be worth the wait, take your time with it!

Keith Malinowski

Compilation 6, yes! 🙌

Jeremy W. Sherman

I'm really loving how mythic is looking lately and perfectly content to wait for the future releases to be polished up. Thanks for all your hard work!

Dean Windemuller

Thank you so much :) I have to admit, I get a little self-conscious about how slow I am to get the big, core books out.

Tana Pigeon

Take your time on the new book and great work so far !
