Mythic Magazine Podcast #2: Building A World

Greetings Mythicists! I put together this episode of the MM Podcast to illustrate building a world to play in using the rules from MM#38 plus some modifications from the in-development Mythic Roleplaying Second Edition.

This episode takes us through the creation of a new world, up through making the Genre, Tone, Context Rules, and more. I stop short of creating the History Paths as I'd like to do that with the next episode.

I'm experimenting with making the MM Podcast a more regular feature of the Patreon. It's been a long time since I've done one, but if possible it would be nice to make one monthly. We shall see how that goes!

Happy adventuring!

Hi Eric :) It's from Mythic Magazine #38, and a version of that will be in Mythic Roleplaying 2e. I'm using a draft of the MRPG2e rules to play the podcast adventure. You can also download the World Creation sheet itself from the Resources page on Word Mill Games: https://www.wordmillgames.com/resources/World-Creation-Sheet-(form-fillable).pdf The version of the system I'm using is a little different than the one that appeared in Mythic Magazine, so I might mention things that aren't on the sheet. Still, the sheet as it currently is will give you a good idea of what I'm talking about when using it.

Hi Tana! Where can I find the World Creatio Sheet. I cannot fully picture it based on the descriptions alone

Eric Nicolaievsky

I actually was going to skip this and go straight to the actual play podcast but after you shared the concept and where it came from, I had to go back and see how it worked. Definitely need to play around with magazine 38!

Really late listening to this, but I think there was a missed opportunity to have The Zombie Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert. ;)

Heather Van De Sande

Thank you :)

Tana Pigeon

Really loved this. Been a long time reader of the Mythic GME/RPG but have yet to use it all in anger. This podcast, though has really given that little prod to pull my finger out and do it. Keep up the good work 😁

Alright, RSS is enabled! Podcast episodes are now available on your favorite podcast app and in Spotify. I just set up the Spotify link, so that may not be active for a few hours. To find your RSS link, go to the Membership section (you can find that link on the front page of this Patreon) and scroll down.

Tana Pigeon

Ohh, good idea. I'll check into that.

Tana Pigeon

Would it be possible to turn on Patreon's RSS feature for this so we can subscribe on Podcasthcers?

Saturday Morning Media

Thanks Keith! I'm having fun with it and looking forward to seeing where this goes.

This was really great! I am liking how Mythic 2E is working. The next episode is going to be quite interesting and can hardly wait to see how the story plays out. Thank you for doing this, it was a great idea and is sure to be a smash hit with the community!!!

I'm hoping to get a podcast episode out once every month. So, the next installment will likely be early May. I'm kind of itching to get the world history built on this one lol

Tana Pigeon

Oh man! Looking forward to the next podcast. Do we know when that might come out?

Dean Windemuller

Loved this episode! Great sneak peek of the MRPG2e rules. I can't wait to hear you play in this awesome setting you've generated, and I'm looking forward to the History Paths next episode. 😊

MelJay452

Enjoyed it! Thanks!

Great work, looking forward to next episode

Tom Guldin

Awesome! I can’t wait to listen to this when I get home!!!

Keith Malinowski

Thanks Eric :)

Tana Pigeon

Great podcast. I was hoping some form of scaled rank system. Looking forward to the new Mythic rpg.

Thank you Ryan :) I originally meant to make them longer, include sound effects and more music, generally make more of a production out of them. But I realized if I did that, I could maybe get one out once every 3 or 4 months. Versus this, keeping them short and simple, I can probably do them once a month.

Tana Pigeon

This was fun and I hope you keep them up!
