Mythic Magazine #40

Greetings Mythicists! Mythic Magazine issue #40 has arrived, and it's a mystery what's in here. Really, it's mystery.

Well, a collection of mystery genre Meaning Tables is one of the items in here! Here's what we have:

Meaning Table Collections - Horror & Mystery: Take themed Meaning generation to a new level of detail with these two collections of Meaning Tables tuned toward Horror and Mystery adventures.

Rules & Tools For Science Fiction Adventures: Boldly take your adventures where no adventure has gone before with this simple framework for generating sci-fi content as you go. Plus, quick and easy rules for ship to ship combat and damage.

Happy adventuring! :)

There's room for Horror and Mystery (topics you've touched on many times) and you might even be able to pull off media settings, like one shots styled after movies or episodic television. I'm sure others would appreciate it

Now I'm really looking forward to Mythic RP. And these "Rules and Tools" could be like setting books, but with a better label and more functional...so good...

That table, and a few more like it, will likely end up in Mythic RPG 2e. The Rank scale presented in issue #40 mirrors how Ranks work in second edition.

If these end up being popular enough, I'd like to turn this into a whole series of "Rules & Tools" for different genres. The big two to start with would logically be Science Fiction and Fantasy.

Tana Pigeon

I'm glad you like that one, Chris :) Yes, I would love to do a fantasy article like this one! I'll put that on the content poll list.

The Science Fiction Example Table is fantastic! It gives me a quick way to build PCs and ships and create comparable NPCs and their ships. Would you ever do another article or table for Fantasy? I'm sure people would love a Table on Fantasy elements and monsters, and who wouldn't love an article on building dragons and combatting ON them!

Chris Diaz

Thank you Travis :) I really like the idea of genre collections of Meaning Tables. With a focused enough grouping of tables, you can practically run an entire adventure with just those.

Thank you Stark :)

Love it! You're hitting on 3 of my favorite genres (mystery, horror, Sci-Fi) and the specific genre-specific meaning tables is a great idea!

Thank you so much, Tana! Always appreciate getting a post from you <3
