Mythic Magazine Podcast

It was almost a year and a half ago when I did the first, and only, Mythic Magazine Podcast episode. It was an interview with Trevor Devall and I had a blast doing it.

Afterward I said I would do another one as time allows. Unfortunately, time has not allowed ... until now. I'm ready and eager to dive back into the podcast world, and I think it would make a nice additional feature here on the Patreon. Time is still an issue, so I can't commit to a regular schedule of podcast episodes. However, I'd like to do as many as I can.

So, I'm looking to do Mythic Magazine Podcast Episode #2! I'm looking for your inputs here on what the episode should be about. Here are some possible ideas:

• An interview with someone, like the first one.
• Field questions beforehand and answer them on the podcast, as a sort of AMA.
• An actual play of a Mythic adventure, or at least the start of one. I could field requests beforehand about what kind of Mythic or Crafter systems you'd like to see highlighted in it.

If you have other ideas, I'm interested in hearing them, but those sound like the most likely candidates.

Please comment below with your thoughts and suggestions.

Happy adventuring :)

I like this idea, and it's probably how I would approach an actual play. At least in part. I'd like it to highlight some Mythic rule or system, like you mention from the magazine. Maybe this is something that could be put to a poll so people can request what rules are in the podcast.

All of the suggestion sounds amazing. An additional idea could be to do an presentation or actual play with different concept you talk about in mythic magazine: Mass combat, NPC emulator, long journey, ect

Thomas Scheuerman

I like all of those ideas, including using TAC and MRPG2e :)

An actual play would be great. Perhaps the Adventure Crafter could be used, as it's a great but complex system. Only downside is that the AC may take time away from the actual RPG session, and it might be too complex for an audio podcast. As for the ruleset, perhaps you can use your very own Mythic RPG 2nd Edition. That would be a nice way of introducing it and giving us a sneak peek.

I would love to hear an actual play of a Mythic adventure with a rules set like Cypher System or Genesys. But an interview thrown in now and again would be awesome too!

Reading all of the above, my feeling is I should do an actual play. I've already done an interview, and lots of people are asking about an actual play, so after that's done we'd have one of each in the podcast collection. After that, I'm liking the idea of either bouncing back and forth between interviews and plays, or mixing them as some of you are suggesting. Since I'm still new to recording podcasts, doing an actual play will also give me some experience in doing so. I'll then have an interview and a play episode (or short series) behind me. It would be nice if I can get multiple podcasts in during this year, then I can hit on a multitude of the ideas above. I'm really intrigued by this idea of having a guest on to chat with, then we play a bit.

Great comments and suggestions, everyone! Thank you, and please feel free to keep them coming. I'd like to use this thread as a podcast brainstorming area for the moment.

Thank you :)

Excellent podcast! You provided some good information and I enjoyed your guest speaker. I only watched season one, but now plan on picking it back up.

An actual play would be quite interesting! And I agree with the others about "mixing" the concepts. A "Playing with Tana" podcast/video where a guest joins you for an interview then it's collaborative play of Mythic/Crafter systems with a random RPG system.

Davide Marcoccio

All sound great, but an actual play in podcast form would be the bees knees!

Actual play would be cool. But I would also love to hear more about your process. You are an ideas factory ! For interview, Kelsey from Arcane Library would be good. She has recently talked about solo. So in summary - all of the above!

Peter Roberts

I would love to see how you play Mythic solo with D&D5e.
