We're just about done with 2023, which was Mythic's 20th anniversary year, and this has been an amazingly Mythic year. I want to thank you, the Mythicist patrons, for your support during this past year and from the beginning. Mythic Magazine and this Patreon page are three years old and I'm amazed at all that has happened in that time! I really love that Mythic Magazine content is chosen by Mythicists, and you've charted an interesting course this past year. Thank you :)
So what's cooking right now?
Mythic RPG 2e is in the works. I can't say when it'll be available, but I'm hoping by the end of 2024. I still have a long way to go and I'm taking my time, but I'm liking how it's shaping up. I'm putting a lot of effort into the Characters chapter, which is character creation (but also includes NPCs). This is going to be a much more robust section than in the original red book. I feel like this chapter is what most sets the red book apart from the blue book, so it has to be an especially good section. I've made some design choices that I hope people like.
One of those choices is treating character creation also as adventure setting creation. Since Mythic RPG is a universal system, you have to come up with a genre and setting as well as a character, so why not roll that all into one? Making a player character also involves making the bare bones of the world around that character. There are tables to help randomize this if you wish and guidance for other ways to sort this out. In playtesting I'm having a good time randomly generating worlds and settings and a PC to drop into it, so I'm kind of pro random right now lol
Mythic Magazine Compilation #5 is almost done. I had hoped to have it out in December, but I've been getting sidetracked on completing it. I'm looking at January now. As soon as that is done I'll get to work on Compilation #6.

2023-12-22 00:54:18 +0000 UTCI am sooo excited for the RPG! Mythic is actually my favorite RPG system as well as being the best GM Emulator. Other RPGs tend to either have too much or too little crunch for my liking, and Mythic is very easy to learn compared to a lot of RPGs. :)
