Greetings Mythicists!

Work on Mythic Magazine #22 is coming along well. It should drop late next week. Pictured above is the title page for a solo adventure setting that's in this issue. This is similar to the Tockley Manor adventure published in Issue #11, except this is a setting designed for sandbox solo play.

With Tockley I was hoping to present a framework for a style of adventure module that's optimized for solo. There are various methods for solo adventuring with published modules, but I'm trying to encourage a new mindset toward a different kind of published module, ones created specifically for solo.

Isle of Kitra takes the Tockley Manor idea in a slightly different direction. By providing a setting, it becomes a toolbox that you can rummage around in for ideas for your adventures. The setting provides a multitude of plot hooks, a large island to explore, numerous setting-specific NPCs to interact with, and a collection of locations to investigate. Everything is presented to give you something meaty to start with. From there, who knows where Mythic will take the adventure.

The setting is large and varied enough that you could easily use it for a series of adventures or an extended campaign. You can read through the whole setting beforehand without worrying about spoilers. You don't know how Mythic will handle all of these details until you actually play it.

Also in this issue are more Elements Meaning Tables, which first appeared in issue #18. That issue presented 30 tables, and this issue adds 15 more.

Happy adventuring!

Love the idea, love the cover artwork!

I hope you like it :) I agree, I think the concept has something to it. I feel like people who play solo generally do one of two things, playing from scratch and generating an adventure as they go or try to adapt a module meant for group play. I can't help but feel there's an approach that lies in the middle, module play strictly for solo. I keep testing the idea to find the ideal formula for it.

I never did get aroudn to Tockley manor due to life but I think this whole Solo setting/adventure has a lot of legs and can produce some interesting products. Will be waiting eagerly to see this.

This sounds the direction I have been working on myself. Converting some of my favorite settings into modular component for sandbox solo play. I look forward to seeing your professional model for a sandbox solo.

This art is gorgeous and we've been hankering for a seafaring adventure so this is awesome timing. Exciting!!

I'm so excited for this! I've wanted to get my hands on a solo sandbox for a while now.
