Mythic Magazine Podcast Question
Added 2022-08-12 21:50:03 +0000 UTCHello Tier 3 Mythicists!
I am considering doing another podcast episode, and I'm trying to decide what it should be. So I am going to ask your opinion.
I'm considering one of three possible things:
- Another interview with an interesting solo RPG personality. If I go this route, we can discuss who to reach out to.
- Start an actual play series. If I do this, I'm viewing it as on ongoing, serialized adventure. I figure each episode would involve a Scene or two. I'm thinking each episode can also highlight a different aspect of Mythic or a different tool, perhaps drawing from the latest issues of Mythic Magazine. This would then double as an ongoing actual play show, and as an audio example.
- An actual play that is just an audio example. As with the idea above, this one would focus on some aspect of Mythic or Crafter rules. This wouldn't be an ongoing, serialized adventure. This would be more like the examples you read in the books, but done live.
Please tell me what you think! I've arranged this as a poll, where you can choose as many options as you like. But please also let's discuss it below. I'd like to hear your thoughts. I'm still very new to this whole podcast thing.
Thank you :)

Thank you all for your input, this has been very helpful :) Based on these responses, I think what I'll do is what many of you are suggesting. I'll start a serialized, episodic series. Each episode I will make note of the tools I'm using and vary it up. That way each episode serves as the next installment of the ongoing story, as well as acting as an example of specific tools being used. The best of both worlds. I'll break this up sometimes with interviews. How this unfolds will depend on my time and how far along I am in the projects I'm working on, like Second Edition or the magazine. This all sounds like a lot of fun :) I'll try to beef up my podcasting hardware. Does anyone have a recommendation for a good microphone? I feel like that would be my most important piece of equipment to invest in. Thank you :)

2022-08-14 18:42:07 +0000 UTCI feel like Mythic Magazine does a good enough job with examples of the various mechanics already on its own, and I would be most excited with an ongoing play series. But maybe every once in a while there could also be another interview?

I wonder if you could have a guest player and both interpret the GME results etc. Or maybe, do the ongoing actual play in chapters, then follow up with a couple of analysis episodes, and throw in the occasional interview. :D

2022-08-13 00:59:55 +0000 UTCIf the choice for another interview wins out, consider Carl White (The Lone Adventurer) on PodBean. The ongoing serialized adventure would also be something good to follow. See how you work through the Oracle.

2022-08-12 22:00:25 +0000 UTCI think these all sound interesting. The standalone audio concept/mechanic-focused examples are useful for obvious reasons, but it would also be fun to see how you approach the longer series. I'd say do things the Mythic way, and go with your gut.

2022-08-12 21:58:07 +0000 UTCI've said it in many forums but the examples in the various Word Mill books really are the bees knees. Hearing worked examples and understanding the design thinking that goes into them is extremely helpful to improving my own use of the tools.
