Progress Journal, Feb. 4, 2022

Greetings everyone! I hope the new Emotional Quests system is going over well. I'd be curious to hear feedback on it for anyone who's tried it yet.

I was glad to get notices that my proofing copies of the print versions of Mythic Compilation #1 are on their way to me. That's a hardcover and a softcover edition. Cross your fingers that both look fine and don't need further revisions. If all is well, then those should be available on DriveThruRPG within a few weeks. However, if I need to fix something it's going to delay it another month or two.

Speaking of Mythic Magazine, I am working on Compilation #2. That should be out this month, February. Once that's done I'm all caught up with Mythic Magazine Compilations until issue #18 of the magazine comes out.

This month has gotten off to a slow start for me because I had dental surgery yesterday. If you haven't had the pleasure of having a dental implant installed, let me just say that you are missing out on the experience of having someone literally drilling into your jaw bone. With a drill. Actually, multiple drills since apparently one drill just isn't enough. I consider myself technically bionic as part of my body is now made of metal. I am awaiting the accidental superpowers. So far, nothing, although when they arrive I am considering the superhero name of Screwtooth the Molar Marvel.

Happy adventuring everyone! :)

That's a great idea, Nathaniel! You're right, that is a big archetype that's been passed over so far. I'll put that on the article idea list for an upcoming poll.

A quick on future content: I was wondering if there are plans to create a "city region" generator similar to the dungeon, wilderness, and starship generators? I know there are city elements to the location variations in the earlier mythic magazine (I forget the issue # off hand) but would love to see a system focusing on the generation of small villages to sprawling metropolises. I feel like that's the last great "archetypal" region. While I know there are some other games out there (stars/worlds without number) that have these sorts of generators, I enjoy having "open-ended" options like those provided with mythic.

I do plan to have print versions of each individual magazine. I made getting the Compilations done a higher priority though since so many have been asking for them and I'm behind on them. I know it's kind of silly that the print Compilations are appearing before the individual print editions, but those POD editions will appear eventually.

Thank you so much, and I'm glad you're enjoying it! :)

Hi. Really enjoying the emotion quest system! Been using it in my solo game but also planning to use it with a group. As usual I was looking forward to the magazine and impressed again!!!

Congratulations! Out of curiosity, I remember Mythic Magazine 4 you found editing errors and was not printed? Did you decide to print compilation books instead (which would make since as printing is so much more expensive in Covid times)?
