Added 2021-03-23 00:09:46 +0000 UTCI've been keeping everyone up to speed on my progress of Mythic Revised. I've also said several times that this isn't a second edition ... until now. I feel like the changes are extensive enough to call this Mythic Second Edition.
This won't change my plans much, but it will change the terminology a little. Most likely I'll come out with Mythic GME Second Edition first, then Mythic Second Edition after.
I'm going with Mythic Second Edition instead of Mythic Complete because it's a simpler title, although it's going to be the same concept. Mythic Second Edition will include everything in Mythic GME Second Edition as well as the contents of the Variations books and Mythic Magazines published up to that point (at least the most relevant articles).
Calling it a Second Edition gives me the latitude to make changes on some of the Variations content. There will be small tweaks here and there, but I don't have to feel like I have to be extra careful about it not matching exactly.
Nothing is changing too drastically, everything will still work together. For instance, Mythic GME 2nd Ed. will still work with the Variations books as is. The biggest functional change is in the Fate Chart, which is getting simplified slightly. There's less granularity to it (9 odds levels to it instead of 11) but I think it's more functional and easier to use.
There's still a lot of work to be done, but I'm excited about how the book is shaping up!

Ive also done this exact same thing and can confirm it works pretty good and works for mv1 and mv2 rulesets

2021-04-11 20:14:29 +0000 UTCIf the RPG is still in the mix then I think it would benefit from less ranks but also if the ranks had some numerical mapping (similar to Fate/Fudge) so that you could use the Stat Check from MV2 with them. Currently I’ve devised my own ranks and then mapped them from 1-10. This has the benefit of allowing some quick math to subtract ranks (7-4: 3 levels of difference) which can be useful in some cases when sliding up/down the rank ladder is not necessarily the instinctual thing to do or maybe you don’t have the ladder in front of you. Ranks as numbers also opens up some more traditional gaming options, such as damage as HP (level of success and/or weapon rank as a static number or mod...)

2021-03-24 01:18:20 +0000 UTCI a very excited to see a second edition blending best practices and ideas. I hope that you consider including the optional fate chart which included "marginal yes" and "marginal no" results. Many rpgs, include this "yes, but" or "no, but" mechanic to great effect.
