Mythic Magazine #3 article ideas

Hello everyone, here's a Random Event for you :)

I'm deciding on what articles to go into Mythic Magazine #3. I've put the ideas, many of which have been suggested by some of you, into a poll for you to vote on.

If you have an idea for an article that isn't listed in the poll please feel free to add it in the comments section!

I hope everyone is having a good month so far :)

Thank you all for voting! I expected the pre-published adventure one to come in first, people have been asking about that for a while. With a random dungeon generator coming in second, Mythic Magazine 3 is going to be the dungeon crawl issue! Jorge is at work on a cover for it. I asked him to make something that evokes that classic dungeon crawl feeling, but in his own style. I can't wait to see what he comes up with!

That's a good idea. It's one reason why I stopped referring to Scenes in Location Crafter and changed the terminology to Areas; using TLC with Mythic is already confusing enough without overlapping terms. I'm going to write this down as an article idea to explore in a later issue.

If I'm using Mythic Fate Checks to replace specific rules in an RPG, I try to follow the spirit of the original RPG without overthinking it. So, if the game gives a bonus I try to recognize that with an adjustment in the odds in Mythic. My gut feeling is that trying to make the conversion statistically equivalent is probably counter-productive; it's really apples and oranges. What matters is that an adjustment is made in one direction or the other, changing the odds. Will it be the same odds as in the original game? Probably not. I think that's okay. What you're gaining is speed of play by not having to look up the rule. You still get the practical end result ... an adjustment that makes sense.

Also, (sorry to spam), with regards using Mythic to replace specific rules. One thing I'd like to know is how closely making a call on the Variations 2 fate check scale correlates with difficulty checks in other sytems. Statistically that is. I play a fair amount of OSR and am used to DCs on a D20. If I am thinking about the difficulty of sneaking, for example, if I rate the chances of approaching without being seen as 'likely' from what perspective am I seeing it? If I see it that it's 'likely' beacuse am an elf I have given myself a +2 for being an elf (even though the game system doesn't give me a bonus for being an elf). Or do I see it as 50/50 for a 'normal' person and add 1 to the fate roll becasue I happen to have a +1 modifier in agility stat? There are a number of ways to approach this task. I'm no statistician so these decisions I make are arbritrary and wonder I am being overly generous or overly punative. There may be similar issues for different systems. I'll stop now :)

One thing that might have legs is exploring the interaction / overlap between Mythic GME and Location Crafter. Especially with your new refined/random rules I would suggest that sometimes it's challenging to know what to do about altered/interrupt scenes when you are using random location generation (which are in essence scenes in themselves). In my experience the randomness can become a bit unwieldy at times. I think with experience you learn what's a 'scene' (rolling chos factor) and what's an area but it may be a bit of a barrier to entry without some more explicit guidance. Just a thought.
