Mythic Magazine #2

Greetings everyone! I'm happy to present Mythic Magazine #2, the January 2021 issue.

This turned into a big one. There's an article about Altered Scenes and different ways to approach them, including randomizing changes to the Expected Scene or replacing Altered Scenes with themed Alternate Scenes.

The biggest section of this issue however is a total revamping of The Location Crafter. The basic concept is the same, but it's presented here in a way to make it totally random from the start without making Lists. Randomization is a big part of it, and I tried to make it as smooth and streamlined as possible.

Happy adventuring!

Tana

I was just thinking about the second issue, and here it is! Will enjoy reading through this, I'm sure :)

Hi James! Thank you for your support, and I'm glad you like it. As for ideas, once or twice a month I put out a post looking for ideas and what people are thinking about so that's the right time to pitch some ideas. Look through the posts and you should see one from January talking about magazine article ideas. Feel free to comment there, or when the next post gets made. I'm going to try and update the list of ideas and have people vote on them sometimes to prioritize them.

Thanks Tana. The effort has been appreciated and I have upped my pledge as a result. I am very impressed by the quality. Just out of interest, if I have ideas about other topics that may (or may not of course) be considered, where do I post? Here in replies to comments?

I'm glad you like it :) A year or two ago I read a criticism of Location Crafter where the person liked it but wished it had the ability to be completely random. I realized that critique was correct and was something that should have been in the original book and I've wanted to fix that ever since. I meant to just do a small article with a simple table replacing making Lists with random results. After starting it though I realized that you couldn't just slip in a random table without rethinking the entire system. That random table required other adjustments to the system, those adjustments needed additional rules to support them, and before you know it the article turns into Second Edition Location Crafter. I feel good that this is out there now. This issue was a lot of work, I can't promise that every issue will have this level of crunch. However this makes Location Crafter satisfying to me in a way that it never has been before.

damn that sweet sweet cover ! thank you for number 2 ! :) just to give more meat to my comment, i think this issue is a very strong one. I love to roll on tables to guide my play and the "Scene adjustment table" is inspiring ! The Altered scene was always a complicated beast for me and this article solves a lot of conflicts i had. As for the Location Crafter hot damn ! This replaces completely the normal LCrafter for me ! You went FAR ! Thank you !
