6 patreon commissions this month?... are you ok?!

Ok, this post will be a little long, but, bear with me for a while.

Also, this will be a reminder/rant about some rules I manage on my Patreon, so, you can imagine this is a little serious. Ok, let’s begin.

First of all, I can’t start a Patreon-related post without remind you how grateful I am with all of you for the support you have giving me since June 2015 when I started this. I have to be honest with you: when I created my Patreon account, I never thought that I was going to have at least one single supporter. Back then, I still lived at my parents’ house and I haven’t finished my college career yet. Still, I wanted to earn and save some money for the moment I start living at my own. Who would tell that that very same account would save my ass more than once?

I have never been a well-known artist, also, I know that, accepting that I’m a half-decent  ero-artist, I still have A LOT to improve, so, the amount of patrons and money I get is fair for the talent I give to you (I can’t quit my job and make a living of this, I can tell you that XD). However, I managed to create at least a decent system of rewards to earn new patrons and keep my current ones happy, for example the hentai exclusives, the monthly themes (when I have time) and, the one who’s making me write this post: the commission patrons (from now on, I’m calling them CP).

For those who don’t know, CP are for supporters who, with a help of $3 or more monthly (it’s cheaper than a coffee), can get a chance to get a commission ($10 for hentai commissions). As you can see, compared to the $10 I charge for normal commission, $20 for ecchi ones and $40 for hentai ones, this is pretty much one heck of a discount. However, there is a rule: this commissions are basically a roulette, which means that having a commission one month is not a guaranty for having one the next month, Since, due to my schedule, non-patreon clients and personal projects to draw. I’m able to draw just 4 patron commissions per month. Oh, the CP WILL still have his/her pic, but the “when” is a matter of luck. As long as he/she keep supporting my account, the commission is always a guarantee.

For years I had 4 of these CP, which was perfect for them and for me, since being the only ones, they basically had a commission each month without problems and I had $12 to survive and help in my house with some bills, but then I got a 5thone, which made the roulette system officially start, and then I got a 6thone which made the competition harder. Luckly, those clients knew the system and had no problem waiting. Since then, CP came and went always keeping the same number of 6, however, maybe because some clients are new and didn’t read the rules, or some are so old that they forgot them, started complaining about how “unfair” is for them not having a slot that month after they payed their $3. Heck even some of them have the nerve to say that I WORK FOR THEM so I MUST have their pics ready that month or they demand a refund. Or that I don’t respect them as clients or that my system is a scam.

Let me tell you something, since I started this Patreon account in 2015, I have NEVER stopped drawing for my supporters. Heck, I never took one month to rest. The closest thing I had as a “month of vacation” was when I was doing my practice which consumed most of my time and it was impossible for me to draw (Guess what? Back then I lost almost all of my supporters). After that, I never stopped drawing and I had all my commissions on time. Even when the result is not what the client expected, I took the time to redo the coloring or proportions to make them happy. ALL OF THIS JUST FOR $3! So, do you really think I’m scamming my clients or I don’t respect them? Once again, I’m really appreciate what you have done for me, but don’t forget that I’m still a human being, and I giving you my work for only $3, so please, a little of respect.

Recently I got 2 new CP, which means that the roulette system is getting even harder. I admit that when I designed this system, I did it thinking small, I never thought I was going to have that many patrons (needless to say, I’m happy AF), but that means that for next year I have to rebuild from zero the entire reward system to be more fair (assuming that I’ll get new clients, of course). But, for now, the roulette, system continues. The only reason I did 6 patron commissions this month was because I feel emotionally fragile right now, and I’m not in the mood to argue, especially with clients, but this was a one-time exception. September once again will be 4 commissions, period.

Here are some tips to get a slot each month:

1. When I say that slots are open, don’t waste time saying “can I have a slot?” or “are slots still open?”. The time it takes to me to answer and you telling me your commission, other clients will be faster and will take the opportunity. Just tell me what do you want. The worst thing that can happen is me answering you “slots are full”.
2. This is a new rule, but it will make things more fair (at least this year while I make the new rules for 2021). If one month you miss a slot, but you REALLY want a commission, then you can pay $3 extra and I’ll draw your commission. Needless to say that the more you pay, the chances are bigger (for example $10 patrons will always have their slot secured). Of course, this is not mandatory, if your patient, that’s great! I just created this rule for fairness with both patrons and myself.

So yeah. If you don’t get a slot that month, and are not patient enough to wait, DON’T ASKE ME FOR A REFUND! Again, you’re paying $3 for sometimes an entire afternoon of work. And if you’re rude or a big jerk with me, then, no matter how long have you been my supporter or how much I need the money, I’ll kick you out my patreon (and other galleries for full measure).

Once again. I’m really grateful with your support, trust me me, if I could, I would draw pics with no limits for every single one of my patrons, but I’m just a normal person, I’m really sorry for this long rant, but it was something I needed to say. Of course, DO NOT THINK THAT ALL MY CP ARE LIKE THIS. Most of them are not only loyal supporters but INCREDIBLE FRIENDS (such as some mermaid fan good friend of mine or a pal with a heart bigger than his perviness XD). But for the ones who are being acting this unfair… play nice, ok?
