PtM Hiatus and New Series: Pandora Unchained

Hello Everyone,

I've been dragging my heels on this, but it's time to come clean: I need a break from Painting the Mists. An extended break. I've been burnt out from the series for two years now, and I need to work on a new project. Its the only way I'm going to be able to keep going on as an author.

The good news is, I've already decided on my next project. It's a series called Pandora Unchained, a story about a physician who becomes a poisoner wielder in pursuit of truth and revenge. Its set in a world called Pandora, where the gods are dead and Seven Evils seek to destroy humanity. It's only thanks to the Eighth Evil called Hope that humans continue to exist and push back the demons that have taken over most of the continent.

The series is intended to be much shorter than Painting the Mists, and is also separated into more manageable chunks where I can potentially end the series, thereby avoiding the huge series trap. Better yet, I've already written over 60,000 words and have developed a steady system. I intend to publish the book using the combined RoyalRoad / Patreon Advanced Content / Kindle Unlimited rolling model that seems to be popular these days starting at the beginning of November.

Your group is the first to know aside from beta readers and the discord admins. Your support means a lot to me, and I hope I can continue receiving it. That being said, I completely understand if you don't want to read something new.

I'll be posting 5 chapters of the new series just after this for anyone who wants to try it out. That should give everyone enough time to choose whether or not they wish to support this project. I'll also be posting a chapter every weekday until the series' official start on RoyalRoad in early November.

I hope you enjoy the new series, and I once again thank you for your continued support.

Sincerely,

RedMirage

Well good luck , man I feel like this is a thing authors do now create wide sweeping arcs and mega series! I honestly think anything after 12 books is too much! It keeps the reader coming back to see if there is a resolution. But dang then this happens , where you might never come back to it and it’s just left in the nebulous place. Bummed , disappointed , and yeah… good luck

I have enjoyed PtM and hope you come back to it someday, but more importantly I have enjoyed your writing and style so I’m looking forward to you exploring another setting. I am also honestly amazed it took you this long to burn out haha I would have expected you to take a break long ago.
