This is such an important point. People really like to complain about how Wilhelm doesn't communicate his feelings and the choices he makes, but fail to take into account his extreme circumstances, and how he was brought up.

2025-07-31 20:20:37 +0000 UTCThere's something i feel that a lot of people miss about when Simon say "i just told you how I feel, you should try it sometime". Simon doesn't understand that the consequences of Wilhelm expressing what he feels is so much bigger. He expressed his feelings on speaker to his mother and that ended up in them physically trying to remove him from his school. Wilhelm tends to not express his feelings until they explode because he has never been allowed to do that at home. So he keeps it in until he can't anymore.

That was Wilhelm's bargain back in season one the Monday after the kiss during the film and his claiming that he, "wasn't like that." Karma. Note that in the previous episode when Wille is watching the facetime from Ayub, Alexander says, "Checkmate." There will be many more checkmates to come.

2025-01-28 23:04:14 +0000 UTCawesome reaction as always! :) cant wait for the next one. the one thing i love about this show is that isn't all roses. all the characters are flawed, some more than others (except september, who is pure evil). it's pretty realistic in that people dont necessarily react rationally when emotional; especially at their age.

The only reason she wants it now for him isn't for him it's so he doesn't have outbursts that reflects bad on the royal family. Not a good mother.

2025-01-28 21:38:22 +0000 UTCAlways important to remember that they are 16. That explains the miserable communication skills, and pettiness. But I love it. Very realistic. I like Heartstopper too, but not nearly at this totally unhinged level. What always bothers me in HS is that those boys communicate and rationalize everything like they would be 50 years old and gone through a long long couple's therapy with a psychologist. Makes it a bit cringy, as no 16 year old is that emotionally mature. In YR the lack of development in their frontal lobes, the selfcenterisim (is that even a word...) and the inability to control (especially negative) emotions is very evident and therefore also an accurate representation of real teenager life. I think that is one of the reasons why I am obsessed with this show. It's like living my own youth all over again.
