The Noblesse of First High (Essence CYOA)

A/N: Okay let's start this, while I'm writing Komand'r I'm going to introduce you guys and gal to one of my side projects. It's called the Noblesse of First High and its setting happens to start in the Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei universe which was mixed with the world of Noblesse. The MC of this story will inevitably go into other worlds or universe because it's her part of her powers.

As I don't know if you know about Noblesse, I'll put this here: Noblesse (노블레스) is an online webtoon written by Son Jae Ho and illustrated by Lee Gwang Su. It is a story about a powerful Noble, Cadis Etrama Di Raizel, who fell asleep for 820 years and woke up one day in South Korea in an abandoned building. With the help of his faithful servant Frankenstein, he enrolls in Ye Ran high school where he befriends Han Shinwoo and his friends. They are soon joined by modified humans and even other nobles in Frankenstein's household.  The series follows the group's often dangerous adventures against a  secret organisation while uncovering Raizel's past. This wiki contains  already 75,237 numbers of edits and in total of 1,001 articles since it was created in January 2011.

####################

Okay, I hope you get yourself familiar with Noblesse, I know that Mahouka is more recent and people should know about it more; so I won't add notes.

In this fic, the MC is born as the daughter of a female mage from a clan in the UK and Cadis Etrama Di Raizel, as I mixed the two worlds; expect the timeline to be altered, some events changed and some characters being OOC as some of their fates was changed as well.

Here come the prologue chapter for your enjoyment:

#####################

A/N: this is a CYOA Essence story based on Noblesse the Korean manga and The Irregular of First High. Melaina will explain how she got reincarnated as the story develops.

Essences are: Archmage; The Noble; Home; Hentai World Defense Powers; Blank

Prologue 1

February 9th, 2095
Queen Elizabeth II Magical Academy for girls
Private dorm room

Me, Lady Melaina Clare O’Donnell-Di Raizel, 16 years old in this life decided that enough was enough. The paparazzi and the heavy guard I was placed under by this new emerging political party supported by the Terrorist organization Blanche in the UK was too much. They've killed my mother, and my father was hiding in Japan, shacking up with his new Japanese squeeze. I knew exactly who was responsible for this; the O'Neill family. They have ties with the underworld and rogue elements in the Magical Intelligence Section.

The MIS is a recently founded organization charged with the internal and foreign regulation of magicians in the United Kingdom. The stated priority roles of MIS are magical counter-terrorism, counter-proliferation, providing intelligence in support of cyber security, and supporting stability overseas to disrupt magical terrorism and other criminal activities.

If I wanted to get scott free from what I planned, I couldn't do so with magic, but with technology. Not to toot my own horn, but I counted myself as  someone of considerable intelligence compared to those genius people in this Mahouka world; My eyes glanced at my reflection in the mirror… I still can't believe Lilith reincarnated me there and modified my background to make me look like a Scathatch expy.

I didn’t have a problem with it for a while, until I hit fourteen and became a 10/10 beauty and that the engagement letters were starting to flood my father’s desk. Looking at myself in the mirror of my boudoir, I was still getting used to my appearance. I have long burgundy hair and red eyes with perfect body proportions; I always wore clothes which highlight my curvaceous figure despite my apparent age. I was in between being considered tall and of average height.

Why did Lilith reincarnate me instead of transporting me? I don't understand, was it because we needed someone to embed in this society? Previously my eyes have been completely blue and my hair red, but it just changed color when my Essence abilities kicked in.

Let's just say that my furniture didn't survive my awakening. I now possessed a tough and enhanced superior physiology compared to any human on Earth; it was quite monstrous and incredible. Telekinesis and Telepathy provided me with overwhelming control, but as I was born as a magician in this life, I could meditate to get used to all those powers. Me having magic in spite of that was too cheaty.

A villainous laugh escaped my throat. "I don't need any of those politicians and agencies looking at me, I can just kill them and get revenge on everyone who killed my mom now."

I was a hostage of the O’Neill family; they killed my mother in this life and are forcing my father to stay away. It stops now.

With a bit of control, I focused on my wardrobe and two suitcases slid out of the wooden furniture. Scanning them with my electronic sweep spell for bugs or listening devices, I found nothing. This time, I tried with my budding telekinesis to look for things that shouldn’t be here; it was strange, I could see deep into the atomic structure of the clothes.

And I found what I wanted, PSION, non-physical particles that come under the dimension of psychic phenomenon, an information element that records the result of cognizance and thought. It sounded more and more like Psionics to me and not magic. Everywhere, I found spells -Magic Sequences- embedded into my clothes. I looked for my CAD, the one dad gave me before he was made to stay away. It was in the form of a pocket watch, he had preloaded all his magic sequences in it for me. But how did he get Tatsuya’s personal magic?

Looking through the library, I quickly looked for something to dispel the tracking magic everywhere. I chose the one called Gram Dispersion, wasn’t that one of Tatsuya’s favorite spells? I was going to have fun with this!

It seems that my ‘magic power’ was enhanced to a high degree by my awakening. Purple light circled my wrist and passed through my hand, targeting the bunch of clothes in the wardrobe. Every sequence inside is dispersed in particles of light, and I perceived something else disappearing. Hmm, it seems that I am sensitive to Spirit Particle Emission; I can see them, so it also means that I can manipulate them.

This wasn’t the moment for that though, if someone had spirits spying on me, then they will come here right away. Home, I needed to be Home! And it was just like that that my need created a swirling portal of blood which opened a hole in reality. I threw the suitcases and the clothes, my wallet, phone and shoes inside it. I wrote off my computer as I stored nothing here since I knew that I was being spied on.

I passed through the portal and cut the blood field portal. Finding myself in a familiar entrance, I gawked at the imposing Hall, this… “I’m in the New York Sanctum Santorum?”

So this is what my mind settled on for Home, okay, I can deal with that. Looking at my clothes and stuff strewn on the ground, what wasn’t my surprise to see a young Tanya Degurechaff in a maid outfit picking up my things and starting to load everything on a huge laundry hamper which was floating one meter from the ground. At her side was a brunette with blue eyes that was familiar. Was this Viktorya?! Why were they wearing maid outfits?

“Welcome, Mistress!” Viktorya bowed to me, followed by Tanya in their black anime girl maid uniform I was jealous of. I wanted to wear cosplay too! I really loathe acting like a Lady, being part of the upper-crust of society is such a chore…

My eyes focused on them, those vessels were just spirit, independent Information Bodies made of Pushions known as or commonly called 'Spirits' to interact with other Information Bodies. But there was something different to it, as if the Mahouka magic was only part of it. This was particle manipulation at its finest, but an esoteric part of it.

You know what? I was so going to steal everyone's research before I changed countries. I needed to know what I was doing with magic, fuck their family secret bullshit. To not be considered rude, I awkwardly raise my hand, “Hello, there. Um… you’re… spirits. Not really Tanya and Viktorya, right?”

I loved those characters but having to deal with them in reality was too much. Tanya and Viktorya looked at each other; then back at me.

Tanya was the first to nod. “Indeed.”

"This is what you wanted, the house provided and we're now stuck like this." Viktorya tilted her head, not knowing why I felt weird about their appearance.

I could read their minds, I realized. Just like real people, they were real people and not just constructs made by the house. "My bad… I hope we can all get along."

Tanya perked up at that. "We're house spirits, it's our job!"

She still had my clothes in her arms, she was rather cute like this. Viktorya caught my hand delicately and said, "Okay, enough of that. We will help you to your room now. Please follow me."

I totally didn’t look at her while she moved up the stairs, nope.  This was new to me, and there was something I wanted to know; can we spy outside to see what’s happening in the outside world?

(Patriarch Octavius Percival Wulfric Brian Severus O'Neill)

O’Neill Family compound
Patriarch’s study
1 day later…

For two years it’s been smooth sailing for the O’Neill family. All members were Magicians and spread throughout every echelon of society; the Military, Education, Intelligence, Civilian Law Enforcement, blue collar workers. The O’Neill family didn’t care about the rampant elitism which seems to have spread all over the Magicians’ circles in the country. The O’Neill have Soft power in spades, and weren’t afraid of using it - like everyone who went against them had found out.

What they didn’t have was Hard power to threaten everyone else outside the country; the use of military and economic means to influence the behavior or interests of other political bodies. This form of political power is often aggressive, and is most immediately effective when imposed by one political body upon another of lesser military and/or economic power. Others, however, had it in the form of a Magician from ancient times who is basically so long lived that he was prophesied to wake up in modern time.

It happened, Cadis Etrama Di Raizel woke up in Avalon in 2060, at his resting place and started roaming the countryside like a lost lamb. He was taken in by the O’Donnell clan and started to acclimatize with this new era. No one knew about how dangerous or how long lived the man was. Octavius found out through photos of his father dining with the O’Donnell and pictures of him meeting the current King.

It was in 2062 that he revealed his colors and completely annihilated the Asian Branch of the Magic Association in Taipei, in Taiwan; for kidnaping his betrothed, Aoife Cassandra O’Donnell; in the meantime they saved countless girls and built ties with a Japanese Magician family called the Yotsuba by saving their heiress, Maya Yotsuba. Since then, the O’Donnell family has attracted a lot of attention for having a magician able to destroy an entire compound with some kind of blood manipulation magic sequence. A potential Strategic Class Magician.

The families in the countries scrambled to get ahold of him, for naught. He was too well entangled in the O’Donnell clan to care about money, Aoife was also too beautiful for him to wish for mistresses. All they could do was apply political pressure and it backfired on them when Raizel unleashed his dogs upon them…

Octavius remembered the cold blue eyes of that monster, whose name he didn’t learn about and who showed them how powerless they were. Magicians were all well and good, but there were forces in this world that even they couldn’t go against. The O’Neill and the other families backed off, until Melaina Clare O’Donnell was born in 2079; everyone paid attention to her. She was born a powerful Magician, her potential was said to be hitting A rank without any genetic engineering perpetrated on her as a fetus.

The families wanted to act, but they remembered what happened the last time they had tried anything. They watched the girl grow up beautifully, and become an accomplished Magician by modifying the O’Donnell celtic war-magic. Passive and Active Barriers, Enchantment over items such like sword and arrows, as well as detection formulas. The girl was hailed as a genius. This was all the magic that she showed publicly and it was enough that multiple offers were made for her hand by the four principal families in the UK.

They were all rebuffed, Raizel and Aoife told them in succinct and clear messages that their daughter would be marrying for love and they weren’t interested in allying with anyone. To Octavius, it was a mistake on this family’s part, they alienated everyone, so they were ganged up upon, even involving those pesky Blanche Terrorists to have Aoife killed. But it had cost the families who lent their Magicians; most of them were exterminated to the last.

If it wasn’t for the threat of those Japanese and Korean Magicians, this would be a coup! They even got Melaina O’Donnell under their thumbs to threaten Raizel to stay away. So when the girl disappeared one day ago from her prison in the school under the O’Neill influence, it put the family into a frenzy. This couldn’t get out! Octavius asked himself how she escaped her guard? For two years she’d been spied on non-stop.

With his hands linked under his chin, Octavius asked, "Where did she bloody go?"

The woman in a blue pantsuit stood before him ramrod and not looking him in the eyes and answered, “We don’t know, sir.”

He didn't threaten, nor slam his fist on his desk like any employer the woman had had before. It was with calm that he asked rhetorically, “What am I paying you for again?”

The woman was a Magician specialized in intelligence gathering from a branch family of the O'Neill. Spirit Magic, she descended from a couple of hedge witches and druids in her lineage. That was why she still had pride and defended herself by saying, “We monitored her everyday, for two years, like you wanted, sir. The only thing out of character from Miss O’Donnell, is her starting to destroy everything in her dorm room and retreating in her boudoir. She's the reason my group had to always sweep her room for countermeasures, and she always found our bugs. We had to resort to using foreign spells to monitor her.”

*Ah now I remember, they are an expensive group of specialists on loan to us by the MIS.* Octavius remembers that Melaina O’Donnell is also too smart and paranoid for the usual means of monitoring her to work. She had completely ceased any interaction with the internet, as well as any form of social media. Her phone is a simple custom smartphone that she built herself with a custom OS written in her own programming language that no one so far could crack.

The girl was given a computer by winning a school competition, one that they've loaded with every kind of military and intelligence spyware from MI6 and MIS, but she never even touched the thing, she used only her smartphone for research purposes. Melaina had no friends, she cut herself off from people completely. She was polite when it mattered, but curt most of the time or she stayed silent and didn't engage people at all.

She was an avid reader of American comics, novels, Asian literature and played video games which didn't need a connection to the internet. She hated DLC games, focusing only on complete ones. Melaina knows how to fight empty-handed and use firearms, before the incident two years ago, and when she was put under guard, she was practicing parkour, a French acrobatic discipline focusing on the art of escaping.

MI6 had slated her for recruiting after she graduated, but Octavius had stopped this notion. He didn't want anyone to get control over the Golden Goose. The girl’s research on Ancient Magic was seriously advancing, but she kept everything on her damned phone. Octavius knew it was about CAD’s hardware and software but nothing more.

“And that’s when you felt that your spirits fled and the Magic Sequences dissipated?” Octavius asked.

The woman nodded again in a decisive way. “It was only one hour later, but yes.”

Octavius leaned against the back of his chair and frowned. “There’s clearly someone helping her, someone who circumvented the defenses and spying devices in that room.”

“We will continue looking for her.” The woman said in a professional tone; there was an undercurrent of something going on with her. Octavius realized that she was in communication with a spirit.

*Well at least the girl had kept them on their toes.* The old man wryly smiled. “Please, do. I will have the MI6 use more mundane means to look for her as well.”

“Good evening, sir.” She slightly bowed her head, turned heel and left the study with a sway of her hips.

Octavius booted his computer and decided to send emails to everyone to be on the lookout for the girl; he also outlined that all their lives depended on her being found, for the enemy they made was sure to move if they knew she wasn’t under guard anymore.

(Spy bird Raven)

Tao was happy for this situation to finally be done with, like Sir Raizel had divined, his daughter awakened her gift at the proper age. He cut his mind-link with the raven he has been using to spy on the O’Neill compound; did they really think that they wouldn’t be able to keep tabs on them? This world was crazy, why were people only focusing on magic when they could combine technology with it? The two could be fused, Frankenstein could do that already! Was it because it was too hard? Frankenstein’s genius wasn’t replicable?

How strange. It has now been fifty years since the last innovation in that particular realm of technology. Tao asked himself when the people were going to stop all that magic craze, and he was honestly getting bored. Now that the Union was done with, the RK-05 were now focusing on protecting the Noblesse and his family. They failed utterly two years ago, with the wife of their Lord having to save them from a fuel-air bomb deployed by those cowards from the MIS.

He knew what was going to happen now, the girl, Melaina, had power now; more power than sense and all those who were responsible were going to die. He took his phone out, and pushed the speed dial icon for sir Raizel.

It rang only once.

“Tao.” The clear and rich accent said.

Tao replied with a smile. “Sir, she escaped; her powers have awakened.”

“We will be there in one week.” And he hung up on him.

Done with the call, Tao left for his hotel, moving at speed fast enough that the human eye couldn’t detect.
