Susan #79 - Vows

Wedding #3 of 3!! We've actually made it to this point, after...6 years? Well, it's not like I planned this out back then. Either way, I think it all still needs to sink in for me. ^^; On another note, I had hoped to make it more... fluffy and grand? Talk about how they complete one another? Maybe that'll be some kind of closing entry for this chapter? I'm just rambling here, yet again.

Either way enjoy this hopefully wholesome entry! :D

June 20, 2017 - (Same day as
#78)

The weather was clear with a few clouds on the far horizon, the wind was a pleasant breeze that helped counteract the slightly too warm temperature. All in all a perfect moment to get married. For Nathan, it felt like everything led up to this very moment. All the hardship he had faced, even those painful memories that occasionally kept him awake at night, were worth it in his eyes. He was about to marry the perfect woman.

He briefly looked behind him, giving a nervous smile to the officiant. Her warm smile was enough to calm him down a bit. It's all normal procedure. Nathan could hear her say, as he’d heard it often enough whenever doubts filled his mind.

The guests waited alongside him, mostly consisting of family members and friends. The first row was their direct family, with his own on the right side. His parents were talking with one another, while Noah and Eli were bouncing about in their seats, legs swinging back and forth. They didn’t exactly know what was going on, but remained patient. Nathan was glad he was able to teach them that before he moved in with Susan. Her parents were on the other side, and were fully expecting to burst out into tears at any moment. Her mother held a tissue box in one hand, and a crumpled tissue in another. Her father’s seat was absent at the moment, he was preparing to hand away her daughter in the bedroom that led out to the outside. Her grandparents were there too, with the biggest smile on their faces as another generation in their family got married at their own ‘cabin’. The very same one that he spent a very special Christmas with Susan.

Beyond that the rows consisted of both of their families and beyond that their friends. Nathan spotted his friends that he invited, with varying levels of how well they wore the suit. Not everyone was there, as the groomsmen included some of them. Before he could finish his mental checklist however, people were turning around to the back door as the procession began.

Nathan’s anxiety kept building up as the bridesmaids and groomsmen walked down the aisle, all with a very lavish and popping blue, as was part of their blue and white theme. His heart kept skipping a beat whenever someone appeared out of the door, unwinding directly after realizing it was the best man, the ring bearer or the flower girl. But then he spotted the tall figure of Susan’s father, holding his hand to someone obstructed behind the wooden wall. As he stepped onto the back-porch, everyone could witness the bride’s entrance.

Audible gasps broke through the calm music as Susan carefully navigated down the small set of stairs. Her wedding dress was all pure white which paired nicely with her black hair, which Susan had bunched up into a bun. Her custom corset did its utmost best to contain her bust, while not putting it on display with an illusion neckline. Meanwhile the frilly layers underneath helped transition the dress into a ballgown. The flower at her side gave it a finishing touch and tied up the theme of a blooming beauty.

As much as Nathan trained to not do it, his jaw dropped and his eyes were blown wide open. She looked so much better than she had in even his wildest dreams. Her face was blushed red even through the veil as she walked down the aisle with her father. He leaned in and kissed her forehead before sitting next to her mother. Their eyes finally met, Susan smiled as Nathan suspected he had the biggest smile on display. She moved forward, cautiously moving up the stairs while holding the dress high up. Susan settled into her position, and were finally face to face.

“H-Hi.” Susan muttered out, followed by a small chuckle.

“He-hey. You... uhm... you look absolutely gorgeous.” He reached for her covered hands. “Like... wow. I just... I’m at a loss of words.”

“I’m so glad! I thought that maybe... maybe it’s too much?” She glanced down at her bust, despite the translucent fabric the deep line of cleavage was still visible.

“Oh no no, it’s perfect. It’s the perfect balance of showcasing your curves while still being like... traditional? Like a wedding dress.”

“I agree.” The officiant leaned in and smiled. “You look absolutely stunning.”

“Ah! T-thank you!” Susan said, looking away slightly as she blushed harder.

The officiant clapped her hands together “No problem! Now... let’s get this show on the road, shall we?”

The officiant continued the ceremony by making opening remarks and specifically addressing the couple that was on the verge of getting married. She emphasized the significance of the responsibilities of marriage*. Nathan had trouble paying attention to what she was saying, despite having read her script over and over again these past few weeks. His hands were clammy and was suddenly very glad that Susan was wearing gloves, hoping she wouldn’t notice how nervous he was. The officiant put a hand on his shoulder signalling It was time to start exchanging the vows.

Nathan took a deep breath, steadying hands that he hadn’t realize were shaking, “Susan, I love you for exactly who you are. Your kindness to everyone and everything, how you blush when I tease you, how passionate you can be for the things you’re really interested in. Every day I wake up feeling like the luckiest guy ever, to have you by my side. And thus I will give you everything of myself through any hardships, as long as I breathe.”

It felt like his own breath had been stolen away from him in that instant, looking deeply into her green eyes.

By the end Susan was wavering, her left hand in her face, while chuckling she added “W-well there goes all of m-my makeup...”

Some of the audience laughed with her, as Nathan’s vow touched more than just Susan’s heart. The officiant handed her a tissue which she used to dry up her eyes. She took several moments to calm herself, recollecting the lines that she had been practicing again and again.

“Nathan... How amazing the last two years have been. When my best friend Kim gave me the push I needed to approach this cute guy, I never would’ve imagined him be such a warm and caring person. The way you take care of your brothers warms my heart... You are strict to them if need be, and provide them a safe haven. I know that will make you an amazing father. You’re always there to comfort me when I’m sad, or calm me down when I’m upset. In front of me I see the perfect husband, one that I love to share my life with. I truly cannot wait for what is next in our lives.”

Nathan felt a tap on his left, his best man holding out the wedding ring. Nathan slid it onto her finger, figuratively locking in the precious engagement ring with it. Susan turned away from the crowed a moment, pulling out his ring as she blushed, she slid the warm band of metal onto his finger completing their union. After that, all that was left was the pronouncement.

“-I now declare you husband, and wife. You may now kiss the bride.”

Susan and Nathan shared a look together, before Nathan stepped closer to wrap his arms around her back. She raised her arms above, yet as both suspected her bust was obstructing their kiss. He pressed on however, firmly gripping the edge of her corset and his head lowered to hers. He felt the overflow reaching his chest, as her hands gracefully held his cheeks and their lips finally connected.
