What are your thoughts on background music?
Added 2025-02-13 23:36:22 +0000 UTCHi everyone! For future animations, we would like to know whether our audience prefers background music or regular ambience.
For example, here is my Star Fox fart contest animation with music:

And here is the same animation without music:

Uh, both links kept sending me to the “Doesn’t Exist” page. What do I do?

2025-02-16 04:35:57 +0000 UTCI think you should include background music and just make a version without it for those who prefer that

2025-02-14 04:32:45 +0000 UTCPersonally I prefer no music in fart animations - while it CAN enhance some of them, I feel like most of the time it distracts me and takes me out of it. I’d advocate for two versions like you’ve done before, but only if it’s really easy work to do.

2025-02-14 03:58:07 +0000 UTCwhile i think the background music can be really goofy and add to that wow factor, i think its better to go no music and that allows us to really hone in on that fart noise better. But its pretty close for me, i wouldnt be bothered either way but my slight preference is towards no music.

2025-02-14 01:56:55 +0000 UTCI don’t see why there can’t be a version for both. Personally I love goofy music during the raunchiest of scenes, that sort of clash does it for me

2025-02-14 00:57:54 +0000 UTCI think it should depend on the animation. Some could work better with ambience, and others could work better with background music.

2025-02-13 23:53:50 +0000 UTCI feel like it depends on the scenario. In the case of the Star Fox one, which I AM FUCKING CRAZY OVER, I think the background music syncs really well with the “action” 😏🍑💨

2025-02-13 23:46:17 +0000 UTCMaybe background music for the intro, but once the bodily noises start I'd prefer not to have music competing with the farts.

2025-02-13 23:40:00 +0000 UTCI'd say have background music but rather quiet. Given you now have dialogue & sound effects you don't want the mixing to drown it out. Try and mix in a bit of ambience too if you can for that extra polish. But not matter what it will be great
