Chapter 231: Crown

It had been a week since they had crossed paths with the infamous Pride, an encounter that had left Willow, Raegis, and Amelia dripping with a thick, foul-smelling slime as they trudged through the gates of the Adventurer's Society - HighTown Branch. What had initially seemed like a simple quest had turned into a treacherous and unpleasant trial, leaving the trio exhausted and coated in the repulsive substance.

As they entered the guild hall, the curious gazes of onlookers followed them. Willow grumbled under his breath, his once pristine clothes now disheveled and clinging uncomfortably to his skin. “Never again will I take on a task involving slime creatures. This is beyond revolting,” he muttered.

Raegis, usually brimming with confidence and determination, appeared defeated. The usually vibrant armor she wore was now obscured by a thick layer of slime, its usual gleam dulled. She exchanged a glance with Willow, both sharing a mutual understanding of their distaste for the quest.

Amelia, who had finally regained consciousness after their battle with Pride, chimed in softly. “I must agree with you both. This quest did not go as planned. I will ALSO definitely be avoiding anything involving slime in the future.”

Determined to put an end to their ordeal, Willow suggested, “Let's report the completion of the quest and get cleaned up. I can't bear to be in these filthy clothes a moment longer.”

Raegis nodded, the determination in her eyes returning. “Some slime got in my armor.” Raegis shivered in disgust as an especially long string of slime fell off her shoulder-pad.

As they navigated through the bustling guild hall, the trio couldn't help but notice the curious glances and hushed whispers of their fellow adventurers. It seemed that their arrival, drenched in slime, had caught the attention of the entire guild. But despite the embarrassment and discomfort, Willow held his head high, refusing to let the gawking stares dampen their spirits.

The adventurers stopped in their tracks, their chatter fading to a hush as they gazed upon the trio. Some looked on with amusement, others with a sense of wonder, but all were captivated by the sight of the three figures, covered in glistening slime.

Whispers filled the air, as tales of their heroism spread like wildfire. “Is that truly Willow, Raegis, and Amelia? The ones who dared to take on that treacherous Slime King?” One adventurer exclaimed, awe-struck.

“They slew the Slime King in a mere week? Unbelievable!” Another gasped in disbelief.

“And I've heard they are the fastest-rising party in all the land. Rising from lowly F-rank to prestigious D-rank in just a week!” A third marveled.

News of their exploits had traveled far and wide, and their incredible feat had become the talk of the guild. The very same adventurers who had once scorned them as inexperienced novices now regarded them with utmost respect and admiration.

As they approached the reception desk to report their successful quest completion, the guild officials looked upon them with a mix of surprise and admiration. The receptionist, who had witnessed their arrival drenched in slime, wore an impressed smile.

“My, my. What an entrance you've made, young adventurers!” Illya exclaimed in awe. “And congratulations on defeating the Slime King. Your swift advancement is impressive indeed!”

Willow couldn't help but grin at Illya's words of praise. “Thank you, Illya. It was a tough battle, but we managed to emerge victorious. And, it’s all because of this little one here too.”

Amelia just blushed, and hid behind her staff - something that she had gotten in their quest to explore some elven mage’s dungeon. It was pretty good, with its ability to simply enhance whatever spell she could cook up. “It was nothing, really.”

Raegis raised an eyebrow. “Hm? Didn’t you dance around like an idiot when you finally managed to shoot out your fireball? You stink by the way.”

Amelia’s cheeks flushed at the memory of her victory dance and she shot a hateful glare at Raegis. “Stupid dog.”

Willow, who had been mostly quiet, let out a soft giggle, his eyes sparkling with delight as he watched the banter between his new companions. His mind was filled with wonder and amazement as he thought about the adventure they had just returned from.

He raised his gaze to meet Illya's, the guild master who had become like a mentor to him this past week in their ascent to D rank. “Thank you for the advice you’ve given me too, Illya.”

Illya smiled warmly, a twinkle in her eyes as she observed the camaraderie within the party. “My dear, you have proven yourselves to be an exceptional team,” she praised. “You have overcome every obstacle thrown your way, and I have no doubt that you will continue to achieve even greater feats in the future!”

With a sense of accomplishment, Willow reached into his pouch and pulled out his guild card. He handed it to Illya with a sense of pride and anticipation. Illya's acceptance of the card with a nod of acknowledgment added an extra weight to its meaning.

“I am honored to bestow upon you the title of C-rank adventurers,” Illya declared with a touch of theatrical flair. “From this day on, Willow, Raegis, and Amelia, known throughout the land as the [Crown], shall be recognized as formidable C-rank adventurers!”

Willow couldn't contain his excitement at the official recognition of their skills and teamwork. Being promoted to a C-rank party meant access to more challenging quests with greater rewards. It was a testament to their growth and dedication.

As Illya handed the guild card back to Willow, she added with a whisper, “But that's not all. With your new rank comes additional perks. You will now enjoy a 10% discount on all guild-related items and tools. Consider it a reward for your remarkable performance.”

Willow’s eyes lit up with delight. “Discounts? That's music to my ears!” he exclaimed. “I've been eyeing some new weapons.”

Amelia nodded in agreement, her enthusiasm evident. “It will be exciting to upgrade our equipment and be even better prepared for future quests.”

“May the blessings of the ancients be upon you, Illya,” Willow said with earnest gratitude, carefully sliding his guild card back into his leather pouch. A sense of pride swelled within him at the thought of representing the guild, determined to do them proud with his every action.

Illya, a seasoned guild official, wore a confident smile as she spoke to the young adventurer. The glimmer in her eyes hinted at her faith in their abilities. As their conversation neared its end, Willow noticed a seriousness in Illya's expression. With a discreet gesture, the older man motioned for Willow to join him in a more secluded area of the bustling guild hall.

“Kiddo,” Illya spoke in a hushed tone, “I have something important to discuss with you. Meet me there.”

Willow's curiosity was piqued, and he nodded in agreement. “Of course, Illya. I will make my way there shortly.”

Turning to his companions, Raegis and Amelia, he gave them a reassuring smile. “Go ahead and take a refreshing shower. I will join you soon.”

Raegis, with her wolf-like ears perked up, let out a playfully whine. “But I want to accompany you, Willow.”

Amelia blushed, shifting from foot to foot nervously. “Um, yeah. I would like to join, too. If it's alright…”

Willow chuckled softly, understanding their desire to support him. “Don't worry, my dear friends. I will not take long. Freshen up and take some time to relax. I will share everything with you afterward.”

His heart warmed at their eagerness, but Willow knew this was a matter that Illya wanted to discuss in private. He shook his head gently, grateful for their concern and support.

With a final nod of reassurance, Raegis and Amelia reluctantly made their way towards the bathing area, casting occasional glances back at Willow as they disappeared from sight.

The scent of burning incense filled the air as Willow cautiously entered the secluded chamber designated by Illya. The room was cloaked in a veil of magical illusions, ensuring that no prying eyes or ears could disturb their conversation.

As Willow approached, he couldn't help but feel a sense of mystery and anticipation in the atmosphere. Soft lighting illuminated the room, casting a warm glow upon Illya as she stood at the center. The enigmatic sorcerer's contemplative expression hinted at the depths of her knowledge and power.

“Greetings, Willow,” Illya's voice carried a weight of authority as she beckoned for Willow to take a seat. “There are matters we must discuss.”

As Willow settled into the cushioned chair, he couldn't help but feel as though he had entered into a hidden realm of secrets and intrigue. Illya's gentle smile belied the gravity of their conversation as she initiated small talk.

“How have you been, Willow?” the sorcerer inquired, his eyes glinting with curiosity. “And how is our little beastkin friend, Raegis? She seems to be growing stronger with each passing day.”

A warm smile graced Willow's lips as he appreciated Illya's attentive nature. “We've been doing well, thank you,” he replied.

Illya nodded approvingly, her gaze shifting to Amelia, Willow's elven companion. “I see great potential within her,” she commented, his voice filled with admiration. “She is a remarkable young adventurer. But let us not forget about dear Amelia. I have never encountered someone with such innate potential for magic, even amongst her own kind.”

Willow's eyes widened in surprise and curiosity. “Amelia?” he echoed, struck by Illya's words. “Yes, she does have a unique gift for magic. But we are still learning to harness her abilities. It is a long journey.”

Illya leaned forward, her voice filled with genuine concern. “If you ever require assistance with Amelia's magical development, do not hesitate to come to me. Despite our differing systems, I have some knowledge of elven magic from my past mentor who was an elf. I may be able to offer guidance.”

A sense of gratitude swelled within Willow as he realized the depth of Illya's offer. He knew that with the sorcerer's guidance, Amelia's potential could truly flourish and she could become a powerful wielder of magic.

Willow gratefully accepted the offer. "Thank you, Illya. I truly appreciate your willingness to help. Amelia's magical potential is something we treasure, and any guidance you can provide would be invaluable."

Illya's gaze turned serious as she shifted the conversation to the main topic. "Now, let's address the main reason for this meeting. Amelia's magical abilities are extraordinary, but there are two pressing concerns we need to address."

Comments

It’s not a crime if you didn’t watch but it’s amazing you made a reference without knowing. It’s your choice I you want to watch or not, for future material or reference.

Darklight98

Sir, I've never watched one piece. Yes, I know it's a crime, but it's too longggg

Norobo

You know, Amelia and Raegis Banter reminds me of Zoro and Sanji banter from one piece. Did you take this as a reference ?

Darklight98

It’s fine but remember, when you rewrite your story, remember the number it was before. Your not adding a chapter, you are redoing something already done

Darklight98

fixed sorry

Norobo

Why is it 250? 32 chapters laters?
