Bambi looked around the room, taking in the bright colors and various inventions scattered around. He couldn't help but feel a little overwhelmed by the energy and hyperactivity that seemed to radiate from the young girl, Alexandria. She didn't seem affected by him at all, which was a relief for Bambi. Being an omega in a room full of alphas always made him a little nervous.
Bambi's thoughts were interrupted by Cleo finally deciding to chip in, “Alexandria, this is Bambi. He will be staying with us for a while.”
Cleo whispered underneath her breath. “He’s someone you absolutely need.”
Bambi didn’t hear what Cleo said, and instead focused on looking over Alexandria, this chippy, little speedster. Her looks were almost an exact carbon copy of her mother’s, but something else bothered him.
Cleo pulled him to the side and whispered, “She’s too young to be affected by an Omega’s pheromones. Even if they belong to a rare male.”
Bambi nodded. “And, what exactly is it that you expect me to do by bringing me to meet your daughter?”
Cleo stopped whispering, and fixed her cloak. “Alex, dear, I brought Bambi here because I believe that you and this fawn could benefit from each other's company.”
Bambi and Alex stared at each other, and although Bambi was older than the young Alpha, she was at the same height as his. Shit, another reason why he hated being an Omega.
“And, the benefit to me meeting this beautiful, young lady is?” Bambi said, sarcastically as he glared at Cleo.
“You’ll understand soon,” Cleo’s eyes flashed mysteriously, before turning around. “Well, I’ll leave you both to get acquainted. I have errands to attend to. Alex, dear, make sure not to burn the house down while I’m gone.”
“No promises~” Alex giggled.
Cleo gave Bambi a look that said, ‘You too.’ Bambi just rolled his eyes as Cleo went downstairs, and left the both of them together.
“. . . .”
“. . . .”
Bambi and Lila were left alone, and Bambi couldn't help but feel a little awkward. He wasn't sure what to say or do, but Alex seemed to sense his nervousness and smiled reassuringly.
“Hi! I'm Alexandria,” she greeted herself, her grin infectious. “But, you can call me Alex!”
Bambi couldn't help but smile back, despite his reservations. “I'm Bambi.”
“Bambi? I’ve never met someone with a name like that but I like it!” Alexandria exclaimed, her eyes sparkling with curiosity.
Bambi shrugged, feeling a little self-conscious under her intense gaze. He mumbled. “It's just a name.”
Alexandria's face turned serious for a moment. “I'm sorry if I seem too hyperactive. My Trait is superspeed, so I tend to get a bit carried away sometimes. Mom always tells me to be mindful of that when I’m speaking with people.”
Bambi raised an eyebrow. Alexandria’s face looked like he had kicked a puppy. Yeah, a puppy that was nearly the same height as him even though she was 5 years younger.
“So your trait is superpeed, huh?”
Alexandria nodded, her grin back in full force. “Yep! It's pretty cool. I get to zip around everywhere like the Flash.”
“Oh, I bet,” Bambi said. “How does it feel to run around so fast?”
“Superb!” Alexandria nodded quickly, nearly making herself dizzy.
Bambi was fascinated. “And what about your mother? What's her Trait?”
Alexandria's expression became slightly guarded. “My mother is the most powerful Alpha in the town. But she doesn't like to use her Trait very often.”
“Why not?” Bambi pressed, intrigued by the mystery surrounding the Alpha.
Alexandria's grin returned, but there was a hint of sadness in her eyes. “Because she doesn't want to hurt anyone. She's strict and uptight because she wants to protect us all.”
Bambi nodded, then realized something. “You’re right about the uptight part.”
“Don't worry, Bambi. My mom can be a little intimidating, but she means well,” Alex said, trying to ease the tension.
Bambi chuckled nervously. “I can tell. She's an amazing leader.” he said, feeling a little tongue-tied. “And, a good Alpha.”
Alex’s smile widened. “Yes, she is. That’s my mom, after all!”
Before Bambi could ask any more questions, Alexandria had already moved on to a new topic.
“Hey, you wanna see my latest inventions?” she asked eagerly, grabbing his hand and pulling him towards a corner of the room.
Bambi was taken aback by her sudden burst of energy. He couldn't deny that she was cute, with her wild curls and bright smile. But he couldn't let his guard down. After all, she was an Alpha, and he was an Omega. Alex sat him down, before she ran around the room at lightning speed, showing off her inventions. Bambi couldn't help but notice that while they were all cute, their designs were a little strange and unconventional.
But as Alexandria showed him her gadget, explaining its purpose and design in detail, he couldn't help but be impressed. Her mechanical skills were impressive for someone her age.
She was a little genius for sure.
They spent the next hour talking and getting to know each other better. Bambi found himself opening up to Alexandria, something he rarely did with anyone else. She was easy to talk to, and her infectious energy was starting to rub off on him.
As they talked, Alexandria opened up about her life in the town, how she and her mother had arrived there and the reason for her mother's strict and uptight demeanor. Bambi could see the determination in her eyes as she spoke about her mother’s achievements with pride.
Bambi noticed something as they continued talking. “Yeah, your mother’s really amazing, but don’t you have any friends you play with?”
“Friends?” Alexandria's expression fell a little, but she quickly plastered a bright smile back on her face. “Not yet, but that's because I'm the Alpha's daughter,” she explained, her tone surprisingly calm. “And, they probably think I'm weird because I keep running around town, and inventing weird things.”
Bambi's eyes widened in surprise. The Alpha's daughter? No wonder everyone was scared of her. But to him, she was just a quirky and fun-loving girl who wanted to make a difference in the world.
He could see himself having a cute, little sister like her. Bambi smiled softly. “Well, don’t be so sad. Most kids are just jealous that you’re such a little genius.”
Alexandria giggled at that. “You think so?”
“Oh yeah,” Bambi smiled toothily. “I for one, loveeeeee your inventions. They’re a little weird, sure but that’s only because you’re special.” Bambi said sincerely, causing a wide grin to spread across Alexandria's face.
Then, Alexandria's eyes sparkled as she proudly declared, “Thanks, Bambi. But don’t worry. I have my inventions to keep me company. And I'll make sure to use them to put a smile on everyone's face and prove that I can be a great Alpha, just like my mom.”
“That’s my goal.”
Bambi was touched by her selflessness and determination. In that moment, he realized that despite being an Alpha, Alexandria was just a young girl who wanted to make her mother proud and be accepted by her peers.
As the day went on and they continued to talk and get to know each other, Bambi couldn't help but feel a sense of admiration towards the young Alpha. She may have been hyper and a little strange, but she was also kind-hearted and determined.
She was only 14, but she already had such a big heart and a sense of responsibility towards her family and her town. He realized that he had misjudged her because of her natural alpha status and felt ashamed.
