Chapter 165: Tournament Arc: Multi-Headed Hydra (7)

Raegis's wolf ears perked up at the mention of a quest, her eyes sparkling with anticipation. As a beastkin, the desire to fight something strong ran deep within her nature. She couldn't help but ask, "What quest are we taking, Willow? I'm itching for a real challenge."

Willow's gaze met Raegis's, a playful glint in his eyes. "Ah, Raegis, always seeking a worthy opponent. Well, I think I have just the quest for you."

Curiosity filled the air as the party leaned in, awaiting Willow's next words.

"Do you all remember the quest with the X crossed on it?" Willow asked, a hint of a grimace crossing his face.

Raegis flinched, her excitement momentarily overshadowed by a tinge of dread. Amelia's expression mirrored Raegis's, a mix of awe and apprehension. It was a quest they had stumbled upon before, but the dangerous nature of it had left an impression on all of them.

Before anyone could voice their thoughts, Willow interrupted with a determined tone. "Yes, we are going to take on the Special Ranked Quest, 'Kill The Multi-Headed Hydra.' Difficulty: Unknown."

Gasps filled the air as the weight of Willow's words sank in. The Multi-Headed Hydra was rumored to be a formidable beast, capable of devastating attacks and regenerating its heads if not defeated properly. It was a challenge that few dared to undertake.

Raegis's eyes widened with a mix of excitement and fear. "The Multi-Headed Hydra? That's... that's insane! Are you sure we're ready for this, Willow?"

AAmelia's eyes widened with a mix of concern and skepticism. She couldn't help but voice her doubts. "The Multi-Headed Hydra? That quest is Special Ranked for a reason, Willow. It's said to be incredibly dangerous, and its power is unmatched. We could all end up... well, dead."

Raegis chimed in, a mischievous glint in her eyes. "Oh, Amelia, always the worrywart. Afraid you won't be able to keep up with the big bad Hydra?"

Amelia rolled her eyes, a playful smirk crossing her face. "Please, Raegis. I've handled tougher opponents in my sleep. I'm more concerned about you slowing us down with your clumsy moves."

Raegis scoffed, crossing her arms defiantly. "Clumsy? That's rich coming from the one who trips over her own robes during battle."

Amelia raised an eyebrow, her voice dripping with sarcasm. "At least I don't rely on brute force alone. It takes finesse and skill to be a true warrior."

Raegis smirked, leaning in closer. "Oh, finesse? Is that what you call flailing around with your magic like a confused pixie?"

Amelia's cheeks flushed with a mixture of annoyance and amusement. "You wish you had my magical prowess, Raegis. But hey, maybe this quest will finally teach you a thing or two about strategy."

Raegis's eyes sparkled with excitement, her banter temporarily forgotten. "Well, I can't resist a challenge, especially when it means proving you wrong, Amelia."

Amelia's smirk turned into a determined grin. "Bring it o-"

"Enough the both of you!" Willow stopped their childish banter before sighing. "I understand your apprehensions, Amelia and Raegis. But facing challenges like the Multi-Headed Hydra is what will truly push us to improve our skills and become stronger as a team."

Amelia crossed her arms, her voice tinged with skepticism. "And what if we fail? What if we're not ready yet? We could risk everything we've worked so hard for."

Willow took a step closer to Amelia, his gaze filled with warmth and reassurance. "Amelia, my dear, I know you have your doubts. But think about it. The Hydra presents an opportunity for growth and insight. It will push us to our limits, and we will discover new strengths within ourselves. Besides, I have a feeling that if you follow along, you might just gain some valuable insights that could help you finally defeat Raegis in a fair fight."

Amelia's eyes widened, a flicker of determination replacing her initial skepticism. She couldn't help but be tempted by the possibility of gaining an advantage against her rival. She glanced at Raegis, who raised an eyebrow in challenge.

Raegis smirked, her competitive spirit ignited. "Well, if that's the case, I'm all in. I can't resist a chance to prove once and for all that I'm the stronger one."

Amelia's lips curled into a smug smirk, a fire in her eyes. "Oh, Raegis, it's adorable how you cling to that delusion. But let's be honest, your beastkin brawn won't save you from my precise and devastating magic."

Raegis's eyes narrowed, her claws unsheathed. "Precise magic? That's rich coming from a flimsy elf with a wand. It's a wonder you can even handle it with those frail, twig-like fingers of yours."

Amelia's face flushed with anger, her hands gripping her staff tighter. "Watch your tongue, Raegis. I may be an elf, but at least I don't look like a mangy, oversized mutt."

Raegis growled, her beastkin features contorting with fury. "At least I have strength and endurance, unlike you with your fragile frame and delicate constitution. A gust of wind could knock you over."

Amelia's eyes blazed with intensity, her voice dripping with sarcasm. "Oh, I'm sorry. I forgot the beastkin measure their strength in how many things they can chew on. Maybe that's why you're so obsessed with proving your dominance."

Raegis lunged forward, her claws slashing through the air. "You've crossed the line, elf. Prepare to taste the wrath of a true warrior."

Amelia met Raegis's attack with a surge of magic, sending a whirlwind in her direction. "I've been waiting for this moment, Raegis. I'll show you what true power looks like."
