Upcoming Interview with Chris Lee!
Added 2018-02-14 17:32:36 +0000 UTCHey guys, I reached out to Chris Lee, the Hawaiian Legislator currently pushing for regulations in regards to loot boxes in video games, and this morning he responded back that he would love to do it!
So, I think it fitting that the people that help support the channel monetarily should have a chance to get some of their questions asked/answered so feel free to drop them here if you have any and I will do my best to make sure they're asked! Remember: These are questions for Chris, NOT me. :P
Thanks again guys, you're amazing!

Also, how much power will the proposed laws have to actually prevent these games getting into the hands of children? I've worked with a certain game selling company and was instructed by managers to just put on a smile and jokingly ask parents if the game is for them, even when it's blatantly obvious the game is for the child. Similar issues apply to online game sales as it's as simple as putting in a fake DOB to bypass. Any hope for some kind of ID verification requirement?

2018-02-17 12:48:33 +0000 UTCHow would Chris Lee respond to people who are worried about or against government intervention in their hobby?

2018-02-17 12:47:23 +0000 UTCAs video games of any ESRB rating will be purchased by adults for children already, how would showing drop percentages even remotely stop children from gambling on those games? Would it not be more prudent to outlaw the ability to put in paid gambling systems into the games at all so as to protect children as you claim is the intent?

2018-02-14 22:37:30 +0000 UTCWhat sort of timeline does the Representative expect on passing an antiloot box bill; and will he try for an emergency bill when it goes into immediate effect or will he have to wait on scheduled time for it to take effect? (IL has two dates when laws take effect)

2018-02-14 22:30:56 +0000 UTCDram, Wow, I did not know that, thanks for the information, I always sort of thought of 18+ and Mature as interchangeable tags.

2018-02-14 21:36:26 +0000 UTCBecause There's a HUGE difference between "M" for Mature and "18+" Which until recently has exclusively been on Porn games. In most nations, 18+ is expressly banned and is not even sort of worth dumping money into. an 18+ (or AO) Rating would immediately violate Most store policies in the US as well as Most international retailers including Amazon, Sony Digital services, Microsoft Digital Services, Steam and Walmart. Meaning they would not even put them on their listing in most cases.

2018-02-14 21:29:14 +0000 UTCAre you going to try and eliminate random chance style loot boxes from games for everyone or just those under 18? I ask because I don't see how an "18+" only system would function as adults already let the kids us their credit cards, so I doubt adding an "Are you 18+" question would stop kids from lying.

2018-02-14 17:59:45 +0000 UTCObvious one: How likely is it to get legislation like that nationwide, second one: how can you differentiate between a BF2EA "lootbox" and a Borderlands "lootbox" without opening the law up to circumvention via the Overwatch Model (buy in-game currency, get lootbox for free) or something similar?
