I've enjoyed putting these together and I think it can be enlightening to see the drawing evolve from reference to sketch to final in sequence. For me it is pretty essential to plan out a detailed piece like this, using reference to capture the detail of the uniform and create a believable anthropomorphic character.
All of the line work and grayscale was done in graphite, which I then painted over with watercolor. In this case I used blue for an underpainting. It makes sense for a blue uniform.
Overall I am extremely happy with how this piece turned out! I spent a lot more time than I typically would, but I feel like it payed off. I'd love to hear what you think and what your process might be like :]
