This drawing was a commission of a red fox in a 95th Rifle Brigade uniform. I had seen this uniform before somewhere and I wanted to capture all of the unique details. I only used simple reference but without it my job would have been a lot tougher without it. I spent a page in my sketchbook figuring out the shape of the fox's head and sketched a small thumbnail to get the composition right. This took a bit more planning and preparation than usual but it was certainly worth it. After setting up the rough construction I could go nuts on all the little details without worrying about anything else, taking off a lot of the pressure.
THE POINT: ITS GOOD TO USE REFERENCE SO USE IT
(if you want i'm not the boss of you)
