Celestial War 3

Chapter 3

Ten days later
Kashyyyk/Vawrrawn
Night

I spent a lot of time on the planetary network, reading and studying the planet I found myself on. There was a database about the animals I've been killing or meeting. I had their names but they were hard to pronounce, it sounded like a growling to me.

Letting the music fill the air, I nodded my head with the beat of the electronic music that I've found. It was the only stuff that I could tolerate so far. The music in this galaxy was simply horrible to listen to; there was no Ariana Grande, Gwen Stefani or any R&B music style, strangely though pop and jazz existed here, as well as folk music.

But the singers were all aliens and I couldn't understand what they said or their style was super lame.

Entertainment was also divided by species, I strictly stayed in the near-human and humanoid species part of the internet. There were some disturbing things on the holonet, I actually found tentacles sex is a normal things here. This was my first brush with porn since finding my brother's hentai folder.

Power Buy Attempt. The Good Doctor (Captain Harlock) (600CP) -50% (300). Not Bought. Banked 300 points.

Well shit, another bad draw. It's okay, I will get better luck next time I guess. I took the ancient datapad from its charging pedestal on the main computer workstation; then left the computer room. I walked directly to the master room. It was an open plan bedroom with a veranda originally, but I boarded the windows.

It pained me to say it, but I couldn’t kill every pests and harmful animals, I needed more people. It was while I had this thought that I sat in my leaf bed and took off my clothes; clothes that were barely holding on, I needed new ones. I barely had a top and pants.

I didn't yet have the skills to fix the Garment-fabricator in the wardrobe connected to my bedroom. Sooner than later, I am sure that I will get a perk for that, after all I already know my way around the advanced computers in this galaxy now.

What I really want to get are piloting simulators. I want to be able to pilot a starship, a starfighter or even a speeder, the land and air type. In my first life I was good at those types of games and I needed the mobility to explore around the Tree-Home.

When I sat on my bed something happened.

Poof!

“What the hell!” I shouted and jumped from the bed ready for combat. But there was no one here, only a white envelope. Calming myself down, I asked the force if this letter was dangerous, but it told me to read its content.

Hello there, Destiny!

Cereza speaking, I've been watching you and I am satisfied with your current development. You're a really hard-working kid. But… I’ve been wondering why aren't you using all of your resources? I understand that you are more preoccupied with survival, so I decided to give you a tip. Why don't you use the key on your necklace on one of the doors, then after this use your skill window to read the corresponding perk matching the key?

I hope to see more of your adventures, darling! Toodles!

P.S: Hang in tight, trouble is coming your way.

*What? What does she mean by trouble? And what about the key?* I took the pendant's key from around my neck and looked at it. And more importantly, how is Cereza watching me? Duh, she’s a cosmic witch, she can do whatever she wants.

Looking at the key on my neck chain then at the door of my bedroom, I decided to try what my sponsor advised me to do, so far she hasn't led me astray yet. I stood up and walked to the door and acted as if there was a lock and something weird happened, some kind of lock appeared on the door and the key flew into it. “Okay that’s eerie.”

Turning the key in the lock, I opened the door and the light inside momentarily blinded me. I laid eyes on the interior of a warehouse with concrete ground and a lot of empty metal shelves. There was a lot of space there, it was cavernous.

“Fuck, this is basically a storage place and a safe place? Wait, she told me to read the description of the perks on the system.” I held onto my key and began to consult the knowledge about everything I obtained so far.

There were a lot of things to say about what I’ve missed. This would have made my life easier if I had discovered my warehouse before. I would sleep safely too, but it developed my danger sense and instincts, going into this place now was kind of like a reward at this point. I walked toward the part of the warehouse the "housing" sign pointed at.

And I found a little apartment with a futuristic interior, there was a living room combined with the kitchen. As I toured the apartment, I noticed how utilitarian it looked without decorations, I took it upon myself to change that. I was good at making things pretty, just another occasion to train my Telekinesis by crafting with it.

My next stop was the workshop and I didn't regret one moment of it. There was a computer here, vastly more powerful than the workstation in my home; tools and two fabricators. My implanted knowledge told me that they were in-setting tech that you'd find in a normal engineering or computer workshop. "Excellent."

Despite myself, I spent the night exploring and testing the equipment in my workshop. I was distracted by my discovery, but if I knew that enemies were already at my door, I would have been more careful.

(Scout Gwim)

Vawrrawn
Dawn

This has been a momentous discovery for the people of the trees. Another white tree has been discovered and it promised good things for the people; maybe a way to save the species and exploit its bounties for a new generation of Tree Carers. Gwim looked at the other scouts seated at his side in the transport, they were checking their gear or fastening part of their armors on them.

The healers were ready as well, doing last minute calibration of the Medical droids aboard the troop transport. Looking right and left, Gwym saw no one who could threaten his rise. You see, Gwim aspired to the position of chieftain and coveted one of Tree Carer’s Tikli to become his life partner. The beautiful Grikyw had the same brown blonde fur as her mother and she was sought after a lot. But only him, the strongest, the smartest male with beautifulest white fur could lay claim to such beauty.

Gwim checked himself, his Bowcaster and pistol were secured on him: heavy shoulder pad, arm wraps, battle padding and waist wrap. He had a great number of his trophies and grenades decorating his bandolier. He felt ready for anything. Tree Carer Tikli had told them in the briefing mission that the tree was being cared for by a single person, that the Home tree reported it being someone with red fur. That had been inconceivable to the team, never a wookiee had been born with such a color before.

“White tree located.” One of his fellow scouts announced.

He was the leader of this group, Erkituaa, a veteran scout chosen by Tikli; he is the most loyal warrior to the chieftain.

"Where?" Gwim asked.

The nearest wookie near Gwim pointed to the port near the young scout. "On our left."

Gwim looked at the pale white tree that their transport was flying around, taking scans of it and localising the city that should be there. Already Gwim could spot ancient wooden platforms, ladders and stairs. The design of the city in the tree was clearly ancient compared to Kachirho’s that looked more modern.

"It’s well grown and... rustic." Gwim found himself saying tentatively. He didn’t want to say the truth that he found the place quaint.

One of his fellows slapped Gwim’s right arm, knowing exactly what he thought. “A mature white Wroshyr tree, but it is clearly recovering. Look at its leaves.”

The experienced Erkituaa examined the detailed scans that the transport’s sensor was taking, on his datapad that squawked a sound when a hologram appeared. “Some of the leaves have a yellow tint; yes the tree is recovering, but from what?”

“Parasites?” A female scout with an all brown fur asked, her braid was decorated with a pale blue feather.

“I think you’re right, Shrirro, look, we can see husks of Glorryl slug in the branches.” Erkituaa  said as he zoomed on the hologram of his datapad, showing one of the biggest branches of the tree. “Someone used fire to calcinate them. A dangerous tactic, knowing that their body fluids are flammable but the tree could have been burned.”

Gwim was now certain that there was someone in this Home Tree and they were ruthless and careless in his opinion. You didn’t use fire like this in the Home tree, less destructive methods have been found over the millenia that their civilization has existed.

Ting! “The platforms on the seventh level seem too old to support the weight of the transport; I don’t trust it.” The pilot’s voice rang from the internal communication system in the passenger’s module of the transport.

Gwim growled at that, they didn’t want to risk going further than the fifth level of the forest. He was strong and talented, but he wouldn't brave going to the shadowlands! Fortunately for him, Gwim was saved by Erkituaa spotting a spot where to land on his holo-map. “There, on the sixth level, there seems to be a bigger platform with metal reinforcement.”

Thermal signs popped up on the hologram of the platform showing a growing number of spiders having made the place their spawning ground. The entire place was shielded by how dark it was, Gwim could understand why they chose it.

“It hasn’t been cleared yet, there’s Wyyyschokks everywhere.” Gwim commented.

The junior scout thought that this was going to be a pain to clear; he remembered his uncle telling him how Wyyyschokk nests were hell to destroy. Now he understood why whoever was caring for the tree was using fire. The Home tree was infested!

“Gentlemen and ladies, get your plasmathrowers and your heavy gear.” Erkituaa.

Everyone started to change their loadout, knowing that they weren’t going to have a good time. Ten minutes later they were all in the cargo bay, prepared to jump from the ramp. Erkituaa jumped from the ramp and  shouted, “For the home trees.”

“For the home trees!!” Gwim and his fellow scouts shouted in unison and jumped as well.

They touched down on the platform and Gwim was the first to fire his bowcaster, making one of the grey spiders explode. The others behind him started hitting everything with their flamethrower. Erkituaa then started firing his G-40 portable cannon and started clearing the platform with his weapon; he was strong enough to resist the recoil.

For over forty minutes they lit the spider lair on coldfire or killed them; the coldfire meant that they could stop the damned thing from spitting their webs. It didn’t take the scouts long to finish the last of them and secure the landing platform.

“Platform secured, you can land the transport.” Gwim relayed when nothing but wookiee moved anymore in the area.

“Deploy insecticide, we don’t want any eggs to survive.” Erkituaa ordered his subordinates.

“Yes, sir!”

Gwim showed teeth, he will finally prove himself.

Back with Destiny…
Morning

I exited the warehouse, yawning after passing my time gushing and checking my workshop where I made my first up to date datapad. It was faster, and more intuitive than my workstation at home. I didn’t give it the same look as the old datapad I have found in my home, I got it to look like a scroll from RWBY.

My datapad was a translucent, touch-sensitive panel between two solid end grips that had all the circuitry and battery inside; the interlocking design of these grips allows the handheld device to be collapsible. I positioned the microdatacard slot on the side of the device; though it wasn’t a true scroll from RWBY, I just took the concept and went with it. I had just changed the design of what was there: an eleven inch touch-sensitive colour screen, audio pickups, headphone ports, holographic projector, camera. The device was just a glorified and high-tech smartphone.

While I stepped outside, I was suddenly assailed by a force vision with the strength of Thor’s hammer that knocked me to the ground. Wookiees, there were wookiees in my home and they were going to town on the pest infesting my Tree home. It seems that this was the trouble Cereza was warning me about; and they were doing my job. I couldn’t just go meet them and confront them, I needed to observe them and divine their intentions.

At the same moment, a constellation bore down on me and the forge attempted to link to it.

Power Buy Attempt. Hardware (Star Wars KOTOR) (200CP) -50% (100). Bought. Banked 200 points.

There was a rush of information into my mind and suddenly I knew vastly more about the technology that surrounded me. This perk was awesome because it gave me the training in how to operate, repair and improve the machines in the Star Wars setting. I began to laugh, it wasn’t a good laugh, it was an evil one, because some wookiee came with all their gear to my home without invitation. I attached my scroll on the belt of my bandolier with a smirk.

“Time for them to pay the toll.” I said as I engulfed myself into the force and shielded my presence more actively.

I deployed my awareness around me and let the force guide me toward the interlopers. At great speed, I exited my home at the top of the tree and jumped from platform to platform, slid from ladder to ladder until I reached the cleared sixth level of the Tree-city; the fifth was another story, it was half cleared, but because the tree was fucking huge I couldn’t clear it all.

Like Tarzan, I used the vines and surfed the mossy branches to navigate the tree and quickly cross the third level; Disney was a good source of inspiration when you had the power to know what’s around you at all times and train to get superhuman agility. The seventh level was the safest place to test this, and I may have almost fallen deep into the lower level of the forest if a vine hadn’t caught me before. Sometimes, I really suspected that the tree was looking out for me.

It was while I was upside down and holding on a thick vine that I finally detected the wookiees; I mean, it must surely be them as I didn’t remember meeting this kind of lifeform that entered my range. I smelled smoke and fire in the air as well. I recognized the sound blasters made from the Star Wars movies as well; I could feel the loss of life of some animals.

Letting go of my hold on the vine, I fell and finally saw the Wookiees firing at the spiders that I know are now called Wyyyschokk and the Netcaster. There were swarms of them down there. Better them than me. But I still felt that they were steal-killing my preys. “My exp points…”

My big brother had told me what to do when someone started steal-killing in the MMO we played together. You either get the culprit to leave or you kill them in turn; yes, my brother was a real hardass on that point when he made me play Black Desert Online in his guild. To stop the wookiees’ advance I released a beam of fire from my hand and set on fire the bridge and ladders leading to the sixth level, next, I caught a vine and climbed it up like a monkey. I stopped when I heard roars from under me, I looked down.

It was funny to see the wookiees roar and call out as the fire burned the bridge to cinder. What put a smile on my face was them trying to quell the fire and failing. My intent with the Force was to burn the bridge and ladders, and the Force intended to deliver.

Those people won't enter my domain today.

----- CW-----

(Scout Gwim)

The bridge and ladders were burning. *Nothing can burn spontaneously like this.* Thought Gwim.

Someone was deliberately impeding their advance; Gwim looked up to see if anyone was around. He saw nothing and no one. Someone put a hand on his shoulders, Gwim automatically knew that it was his leader, Erkituaa.

"We aren't alone. Regroup with the others." The old scout said as he looked around.

Gwim obeyed and walked briskly toward his colleagues, holding his Bowcaster tightly. He didn’t like how he could feel eyes on him; Erkituaa must have felt the same.
