Crimson Flash Prologue

This is something that was percolating in my mind, Basically a Kushina SI in the world of Naruto. Canon derail since the start, you've been warned lol.

***********************************************

Prologue

My name was Kushina Uzumaki.

A deep and grinding meditation session when I was three years old unlocked my chakra and the totality of my previous life's memories, which, along with my full name, put everything I knew into perspective. I was in the World of Naruto and I was born while a war was going on between most Ninja villages; I was born in Uzushiogakure, a land that was destined to be destroyed and its inhabitants killed almost to the last one.

I cried a lot that day, worrying my mother and father, they even brought me to the medic-nins, but there was nothing wrong with me, nothing beside the chains of fate binding me and promising to wrench everyone I loved from me. My mood shifted from shock that grew into panic; then for days I resisted and lashed out at everything until mom spent most of her time with me and hugging me, and the inevitable acceptance came to me.

I couldn't keep crying, I needed to become strong! Stronger than anyone! I needed to protect my people, my land, from the flames of war and annihilation. In the depths of my soul a burning flame of resolve was kindled.

That was how I became a training demon, but still enjoyed life surrounded by my family who had started to help me in attaining my goal. There was also my visit to my grandfather, the Uzukage to whom I told what I had dreamed about. How Uzu was about to be attacked at the start of a war because everyone wanted our secrets.

I didn't know if my grandfather took me seriously, but my mother and father did and redoubled my training in Taijutsu, Ninjutsu, Seal mastery and Kenjutsu. As I trained, I noticed how the village was starting to gear up for something, all the seal masters were busy and I was studying by myself.

Father then decided to distract me with learning my chakra's nature, I was water, wind and lightning. Completely different from what I knew from the story and read from the wiki on Naruto during my previous life. It meant that some things were added like lightning that was basically my addition to the original Kushina's life. My father, Kaito tailored my shinobi training toward stealth, assassination, combat and agility. I approved, I wanted to be a true Shinobi; not fight like a samurai like those people from the other villages did.

When I wasn't so distracted by my training, mom told me that the seal masters placed new defenses around the coast of the mainland, the island and the entire village. I guessed she wanted to tell me that everything would be alright. She didn't go into details about what the defenses were, but I now know that it was an early warning system of some sort. Something they didn't have in the timeline I knew about.

At the time, I shrugged, then kept giving them ideas for surveillance seals that used the ambient chakra of nature to stay active. But we didn't have a sage to do those, so I promised one day that, "I will become a Sage! And the best seal master in the elemental nation, believe it."

"That’s a great dream, dear." Mom said with a smile and a pat on my head.

"Yes, but first work on your calligraphy, Shina." Dad reminded me.

"Urgh, yes." I said dejected.

I was a modern person and using brushes was difficult, but I wanted to become what I considered a sorceress by using seals. I didn't understand why everyone in the other villages preferred flashy techniques when seals could basically alter reality and nature. So yes, I focused on my training until I was five and well on my way to reaching chunin level in my capabilities and skills.

Until one day when I was almost six when my family gathered in the Clan Hall. I saw all my cousins assemble behind us, as we were the main family. We sat around the little tables that you'd see in Ryokan with tons of guests.

I was worried about the gathering, was it the day they would tell me that they would be sending me to Konoha? But first they announced that my mother, Kana, was pregnant with twins. I hugged her with joy and kissed her cheek. Then they hit me with the news that they were discussing with Konoha about making me a Jinchuuriki. That doused my good mood.

At least they framed it like we were stealing the Bijuu because only someone with Uzumaki blood could contain such a powerful chakra beast as the current container for the Bijuu was about to die. After realizing that I had special chakra and that I possessed some special power called chakra chain, a clan ability that sometimes manifests in female members of the Uzumaki clan.

They weren't giving me away either, they exchanged my help to contain the Kyuubi for access to the Forbidden Scrolls of Konoha.

"Will I be able to at least look at this Forbidden-thingy?" I looked at my grandfather, Katsuhito Uzumaki.

There was some gray in his red hair and beard, otherwise he looked like my father, tall, strong looking and muscular. He wore a light blue yukata with a dark blue vest with the red whirlpool symbol of our clan.

Grandfather nodded and looked at me patronizingly. "Yes, in fact I insist that you learn some techniques from it, Shina. Such as the Kage Bunshin."

I didn't react, but I was giddy inside, this was the force multiplier that I wanted! But externally I tilted my head and asked, "Why? From the name, I understand that it's a clone technique."

*I already knew why but it was better to play dumb.* I was already seeing myself spamming clones and all the awesome synchronized movements I could do with them.

Grandfather's eyes twinkled and he smiled, "Because you'll get stronger with it and some of the side effects of this technique turn into an advantage when learned by an Uzumaki."

Everyone around the table looked at me, they must have thought that I would be screaming and crying about not wanting to go. But I wasn't a normal girl, in fact I insisted on making them understand that I was a special girl from the start. I had spoken my first words at nine months, had started walking at eleven months and had known how to read at two years old. To them I was a genius and every time I did something new. I was a thirty year old woman soul wise.

Then grandfather started telling me about the side effects of the technique. Kage Bunshin no Jutsu was a Jonin level Ninjutsu technique. The normal Bunshin no Jutsu created a copy of the ninja that lacked any substance. The Kage Bunshin distributed the ninja's chakra evenly among the clones and created a real copy with form and substance.

The clone itself could also utilize any Jutsu the original ninja knew. When the clone finally dispersed, any new knowledge it had gained was passed back to the original ninja and any additional clones. This made Kage Bunshin an excellent training method if the ninja had the chakra capacity and stamina to maintain the Kage Bunshins for an extended period of time.

This allowed the ninja to essentially reduce the time it took to train and learn with each clone added. This was especially true when used with Taju Kage Bunshin no Jutsu.

Letting my enthusiasm finally show on my face, I asked grandfather, "I see, how much time do I have to prepare?"

This time, it was grandmother Misaki who spoke. "Another year, to finalize your training, they already sent the scroll. If I remember clearly, you are almost chunin level."

She had blonde hair and purple eyes, she was from Kumogakure like her skin tone indicated, like me she was water and lightning nature, all my Ninjutsu techniques had been taught by her. I nodded to her and grandfather gave me a thumbs up, mom and dad laughed at our antics.

Then after the tittering died down, we became serious again. "By the way, I'd like to not announce that I am an Uzumaki when I go to Konoha."

Grandfather looked surprised, grandmother was impressed and my parents were smug.

"Oh? You realized?" Grandfather looked surprised that I made such a decision.

"Yes, grandfather. This is dangerous, I will be far from you and I can't be protected by you at all so…" I wanted a disguise, I didn't want to attract attention and I wouldn't tell anyone who was in power that I was the Uzukage's granddaughter. Black and brown hair were normal in the elemental nations. And Minato had fallen in love with me because I had red hair…

*Not this time.* I thought as I narrowed my eyes.

In fact I didn't see the point of Minato in the story, I didn't intend to teach him anything from my family and for him to steal some of the stuff I knew. In fact let's invent all those Jutsu before him. Flying Thunder God and Rasengan? My signature moves now. The adults looked at me with trepidation, they were still worried by how I wasn't blowing up on them, I think.

Grandfather spoke. "Yes, yes. We are going to teach you more spying techniques and seals then. What level is Shina, Kaito?"

Dad perked up and said, "She’s good, father, almost a master. My baby girl is a genius!"

Seals were basically a new language in which you ordered the world to do something by changing the rules, it was magic basically. I was a really good programmer in my last life and programming effects with seals was second nature to me.

Grandfather clapped with a big smile on his face, I glowed in happiness. They recognized my hard work! "That’s impressive Shina."

"That’s my little girl." Grandmother Misaki who sat at my side patted my head.

"Grandfather?" I called, after calming down a bit.

"Yes, Shina?" The old man must have heard my tone as he became totally serious.

I sighed and said. "I keep getting that… dream I spoke to you about. Our island gets destroyed and our people killed or scattered, the survivors get exploited."

Everyone kept silent at this, at least the cousins that were present. They didn't believe me at first.

Grandfather's eyes narrowed. "I am taking you seriously, Kushina. This is not normal, your mind hasn't been tampered with and the guards have not noticed anyone sending you genjutsu through your dreams. My summon beast also confirmed your prophecy… so we are raising our defenses and recalling everyone."

It made me cry, he believed me! I stood and jumped at him and hugged him with all my strength. "This… thank you! Thank you for believing me! I love you grandfather!"

"So she wasn't just imagining things." I heard one of my cousins say from behind me, I ignored him.

Grandfather shook his head as he answered the one who spoke. "No she wasn't." He turned his head and spoke directly to my parents. "Kaito, Kana. Before Kushina leaves, I want her to sign two of our summoning scrolls."

I perked up at that. Kuchiyose Summoning, was an art that allows the user to summon animals that were typically summoned in order to lend assistance to their summoner, either by carrying out tasks or joining them in combat. Which contracts did the Uzumaki clan have?

"Yours grandfather?" Father asked, and didn't specify which type of animal grandfather had access to.

*Damn.* I cursed in my heart.

Grandfather nodded, he looked at me and answered with only half the answer, "Mine and the Falcon summoning scroll."

I groaned and he laughed at me. He was playing possum again, well at least I knew about the Falcon clan now… I liked birds!

Mom said, "Will they accept such a thing? Two summoning clans…" She looked worried.

For a good reason, summoning wasn't a game, sometimes some animal clans were at war.

"I already obtained permission." Grandfather waved a hand, dismissing her worries.

My eyes opened wide, *That changed everything.*

"Summoning?" I asked with stars in my eyes.

Laughing out loud, Grandfather nodded and confirmed, "You are going to be trained in their arts."

I jumped with a fist in the air, "Yosh! Power ups."

That was how I spent my last moments with my family, I trained and was always together with them. Until the day of my departure came.
