Hey loves,

I've been diving back more into creating visuals again. I took a break for a while after leaving some dreams behind in Portland. But the fire is still pretty strong inside of me. It's totally different than what I love about photography, and yet, I feel like it's important for me to keep exploring it and sharing it because it's very much a part of what I want to offer the world via art shows and visuals for musicians.

I've been exploring a little bit with AI. For now, I just wanted to share with you some things I made recently on Midjourney, a paid discord AI program that uses text to speech and your own photos paired with words to realize new images. I can hardly take credit for these truly, except for that it's the ideas in my head brought to life with AI.

Curious your thoughts/feelings about AI in general and if you like seeing this moodboard of strange ideas :) I'm going to start within the genre of "drip" -- also if you have a favorite, message me and I'll send it to you.

Hope you enjoy,

XOX

Wow Homer, exactly the dialogue I was hoping to receive from sharing. Thank you so much for your thoughts! I think for me it makes most sense to use along with other programs that create animated visuals to use as a complimentary backdrop for music shows. I usually use my own filmed footage and play with it in after affects and premiere. Or I find digital things made by others and create new edited loops from that. So it seems like a harmless place to create from. But ultimately, I am more concerned about supporting something that is having deeper consequences, like you mentioned with the ethical and legal ramifications. I love hearing you compare it with dopamine and instant gratification. I can see that in myself too. Like some people scroll, I just go into Midjourney dream land, it's like a game or escape. Thank you again ❤️❤️❤️

I am an illustrator and I have also explored Midjourney and Ai in general. I knew immediately that these were Midjourney generations. I think it's a bit intoxicating as a medium. We type some words and get back some highly polished (surface level) images in seconds. Wild! Unbelievable how far it has come in just the last year. Does not hold a candle to your original photos though. Not even close. I just cancelled my Midjourney account after several months and extensive experimentation with it. Again I think it is intoxicating. Similar to how the happiness that comes from drinking also comes with a hangover, the dopamine hits from ai generation are similar to what I get from illustrating, but without the effort and meditative qualities I get from doing the work, I am left feeling depleted and unsatisfied. The moral ethical and legal ramifications of how data was/is mined and who benefits (and who is hurt) are a hot topic, and a rabbit hole. In the end though I think that just from a creative perspective I much prefer consuming human made art and producing art with my mind and hands.
