I recently went down to LA for a week in hopes to create with fellow artists, work, explore the area and understand a bit more about what it feels like. My family is from Hollywood and I grew up spending a lot of time in the beach areas around LA. I spent a lot of time getting to know the folks who hosted me, which is in an epic area called Thousand Oaks, about an hour outside of downtown. Thousand Oaks is smothered with beautiful hills and hiking trails. Naively, I decided not to rent a car. Fresh in my heartbreak, somehow I ended up letting all plans to shoot and work fall through and spent a lot of time hiking the trails and just hanging with my hosts. We finally did a little shooting one day for an hour or so while I was there. These are a few of the shots that Alan (@deceptiveperspective) got of me (with my pink hair) and Steph (@steph.in.space2). Unfortunately, I don't love them and I don't quite know why. But I wanted to share them anyway. I do appreciate his lens and the feeling of vintage LA suburbia vibes that shines through. It was a new way of shooting for me and the first time I modeled with another person. I am used to directing and spending hours in spontaneous chaos and fun while shooting and being shot. I feel like it's good for me though to keep trying and exploring it and perhaps slowly, I can come to understand where I am headed with any of this.
Thank you for reading this if you read it, hope you enjoy.
