Glamour 0.23
Added 2020-02-11 13:21:24 +0000 UTCWell, February 11th isn't exactly early into the month, but this time we're releasing the update earlier than the last couple of updates. We keep trying to release the update as early as possible, but we also keep adding new content, so... You know, the usual. The good thing while this update did take a little bit less time than usual, it still has plenty of new content.
Spoiler alert, here's the 0.23 change log.
The locker room
There's a new regular event for changing into the sports uniform and swimming suit before PE and swimming classes. These two mini events check what characters are present in the locker room, their stage of undressing, and has different angles. It took plenty of sprites and some new code, but it looks really nice. We also used this new code for other events, too.
Cheerleading squad trials
So, this is where the new events start. First you need to finish the old content related to the cheerleading squad. The last step was Karen catching Kate without wearing any underwear during the uniform checkup.
Once that's done, the next step is to ask Angela about the cheerleading squad. She'll tell Kate to wait for the next PE class (Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays). The quest log will have the hints to guide you along the way if you get lost. There are several unique new PE lessons where Angela will be talking about the new trials and earning points. You can see the number of earned points in the change log, by the way.
We don't want to spoil too much about the trials, so we're going to be vague here. Go and check it out yourselves.
All trials are completely optional. You can skip any of them or decide to do them at a later date.
Every trial gives Kate an opportunity to earn points. The number will vary on her behavior. Some of them are periodic and can be repeated as much as possible. Here's a small spoiler: slapping Oscar will result in a longer cooldown, but he will be back eventually.
One of the trials involves a sex shop. For now it only sells one item, but it will increase its stock in the future.
Doing the trials will lead to various people wanting to discuss them with Kate, so there are plenty of new dialogs, too.
The final trial
The ultimate trial will let Kate earn a whole bunch of points, it is the longest event we've ever made. Including choices, it has 122 steps.
You can repeat the last trial to see the alternative option. We didn't want to make a periodic version of the event with the same images but new text, so we're going to expand it in the future. But for now, you can ask Angela and make everyone forget the final trial so you can do it again. Canonically, the event only happens once, so everyone is going to act like it's happening for the first time and Kate won't be earning any extra points. Or you can just save before asking Angela to set up the trial for the first time, if you want. That's basically how it works, but you can still replay even if you forgot to make a save point.
So we had a poll about Kate/Max updates ratio and, not to make this post too, em, topical, but the result is a virtual tie and we're going to piss off half of you no matter we do next, yay :) Because of that we are going with a compromise so no one is happy! Politics! Kate won, so we will keep the old ratio (two Kate per one Max update ratio), but for being a close second, Max gets a consolation prize. 0.24 will be focused on Max, and after that 0.25 and 0.26 will be focused on Kate.
As usual, today is February 11th and 0.23 is released for our $40 Patrons. $20 Patrons will get it on the 18th, $10 Patrons — February 22nd, $5 Patrons — February 25th, same day we release the offline version for the 0.22.
As always, your client will update to version 0.23 automatically (including images).

2020-02-17 16:08:21 +0000 UTCsigh, we voted for sexually directed content over plot going back several months ago and i don't regret my vote or supporting a male character lead. I saw it as a method to offer something to both camps. Max's return was unexpected but not welcomed and im grateful of the content provided. Now regarding the plot holes, these can be filled in at any time during the development of the game. So this doesn't phase me in the slightest . Better to have broad strokes driving forward with game, rather than running around in circles filling in every small inconsistently. For example pole dancing, which could effortlessly be tied in with expansion of the cheer leading squads. While the neighbors arc would require a passive development arc,so no sexual content during development. This latest update for example filled in much of the cheer leading plot hole and the one previous added to the hotel arc.

A) Themed Updates much like it is now keeping things the same B) Plot driven updates where multiple story arcs and opportunities can be worked on at once during a single update, expanding on missing logical content and stories from ages ago that haven’t been worked on at all.

DS I’d really appreciate you considering this option... I don’t agree with polls in general but I know this is the way you like to do these things.... So why not put out a poll regarding Kate updates being theme focussed on one story arc or if you split the Kate content for a single update across multiple Kate paths??? I’ll always maintain my opinion that thematic updates are just stupid and takes away the enjoyment of playing the game and finding new things out for yourself.... If the content for Kate is split between all the different open plot arcs that can be continued right now without more game mechanics being needed for at least a few updates then not only will the game be a lot more interesting to play but it will allow old or incomplete story arcs to catch up with the current content, I think this is something that will need to be put in a poll to convince DS to change the formula of the dev cycle for Kate, Max content is being blamed for this by some but that’s not the case the development structure and plan is the only reason this has become a huge issue for Kate fans....

As far as I am concerned Max isa side story, like Lisa, Veronica, Julia, etc. I would like to see some of those expanded, but not Max. The neighbor boy was teased a long time ago, and even with having sex with several people, including Fedor to save rent, Kate still won't go topless. When is Kate going to be allowed to dance on the pole? and when will she be able to put it to good use with a job that pays more than being a "one-room" maid? I am fine with the current setup, but I am confused. Perhaps there are secret results floating around that haven't been posted, but the only poll results I see show a 54% to 46% split in favor of the current setup. That is NOT a virtual tie, but a clear majority. As I said in another post concerning this: Be Happy Dark Silver is listening to your concerns. I can understand the frustrations of supporting a game that becomes abandoned, but Glamour was not meant to be about Max, but about Kate. This isn't like some constitutional loophole that thwarts the will of the majority over a presidential election. This was clear and straightforward. The majority won.

2020-02-13 13:21:25 +0000 UTCThat compromise makes no sense. Of COURSE Kate wins because most of the people left supporting the game prefer Kate because: 1. Kate has FAR more content in general. She will KEEP getting more content because she gets 2 updates for every 1 update for max. 2. Many of the Big Brother fans left because you abandoned them near the end of major storylines with Big Brother over two years ago. 3. Max in the current game has next to no content because all of the content HAS to be new because you for some unknown reason decided to redesign all of the characters. 4. Max will KEEP having a lack of content because at a 2:1 ratio and with how slowly you add content and story compared to BB there is no way he can ever catch up. 5. The only way the 2-1 updates would make sense is if you were simply porting content from the original game (renders) and events to the new game. But that is impossible, because of the redsigns of Ann and Lisa. 6. Much of your fanbase who left due to Glamour cannot vote in the poll. So the poll is already skewed towards Kate. 7. Even WITH all those advantages, it was a virtual tie. 8. That means at least for the forseeable future there should be a better distribution of Max content to Kate content. It is your game, and don't use polls for an excuse to do what you want. This was the same problem that BB had when you used polls to pick which characters you would spend time on when there were certain routes you wanted to work on. It was decisions like that that left the Lisa story unfinished.

Use of Phone. If a range of smaller much more often updates in these paths are possible? While working on the big updates, ive never been an expert in game developments. But it must be possible to include small updates as the game goes on. like a 23.1 update, 23.2 etc etc.

It takes forever for anything to happen as it is. I mean Kate has had dance skills for what a year now? Can she use them for anything? Nope. How about the budding romance with the teacher; or the peeper next door... crickets. The point is as soon as they brought over Big Brother the development of Glamour has slowed down considerably. I quit being a $40 supporter as a result. I wish they would finish Glamour then do Big Brother, or finish Big Brother and then do Glamour. It is quickly becoming a project where you could probably come back in a year and find that the needle hasn't moved much in either story. Which also raises concern if either will ever make it to the finish line.
