I'm posting here just in case anyone else has difficulties: I'm on a Mac, so in order to run the Standalone app, I had to open up a terminal and do: chown -R $(whoami) /Applications/Scope.app and then also: sudo chmod u+x /Applications/Scope.app/Contents/MacOS/Scope In order to get the standalone to work. The VST plugin still works fine, but this might disrupt the ability to run the VST as multiple users, I'm not sure. The problems were that the App was not set to executable, and it was locked to root/wheel. I can't imagine any reason you'd need to run an oscilloscope as root.
