Colour Poll #4: Partial Bird TF
Added 2025-09-06 21:50:29 +0000 UTC
This week is a little different!
I’ve been wanting to try mimicking watercolour with digital, so I’ve decided to do an homage to one of my favourite artists and big time influence- Peter Vos.
He was an amazing watercolourist and early transformation artist (iirc started drawing TF regularly in 1960!) who was best known for his life long series “Metamorphoses”, which illustrated myriad and often euphoric bird transformations, among other things, from the mythological work of one of the Roman Empire’s greatest poets, Publius Ovidius Naso, better known as Ovid.
It was particularly fascinating to me with the dynamic sequential nature of how he framed the transformations, but also that they never QUITE finished… he always left them as partial transformations, leaving the person to flap away and live their permanent new life as a bird with an awkward but seemingly functional blend of human and animal anatomy along with proper bird composure and instinct.
His work is VERY inaccessible, you won’t find a ton of it online, which is a real shame because he painted probably -hundreds- of TFs. I am in possession of a beautiful art book that shows off the best of them though, from a museum exposition in Paris back in 2013, and I have been meaning to get it scanned in HD; When I do, I’ll be posting that up to the Internet Archive and giving you all a link haha
Anyway… fuck me up with a bird species~ O////o

I absolutely will! I don’t have the greatest scanner atm, but I am in the market for a new one, and might try using a DSLR setup in the meantime. 200+ pages filled with wonderful TF-ey art <3
