The State of Among Us Modding, and Why I Can't Sell you my Modpack

I've deleted my previous post on my modpack, as it caused more questions than it answered. In this post, I aim to be open and transparent about how Among Us mods work.

There are two types of mods that Fortebass (the among us developer) allows: open-source mods, and private commissions (I am in the progress of complying with this with the Jester mod). If a mod maker wants to receive payment for their work, therefore, they must sell their mods privately.

Since mods are still exclusive at this point, the price that is charged by ALL private mod developers is between $1500-3000 on average, per mod. My modpack contains more than half a dozen mods.

Based on all of these factors, the only thing that makes sense for me to do is to sell my mods to private lobbies at market value. I'm not willing to give up on the money that allows me to stream and make mods to pay for living. If you think that I should give away hundreds of hours of work for free, you are being a Karen.

I would love to reach a partnership with Innersloth that allows me to make my mods official, across all platforms. However, it seems unlikely at this point, and simping for me on twitter doesn't really help.

I know the price seems unreasonable! It is, for people who don't make youtube videos with a million views each. Unfortunately, that's how the atmosphere of modding is right now. I urge you to look up other open-source mods if you're getting bored of normal among us.

FAQ:
- You deleted the previous post, is it still up for sale starting at $10000?

The starting price for my modpack is actually more than $10000. But yes, it is available for private commission, provided you can afford it.

- Are there any firm requirements on who is allowed to ask for a license for your mods?

No, I've confirmed this with Fortebass. Anyone who has enough liquid income can buy a license.

- What are the best ways to contact you to ensure you don't accidentally think it's spam mail?

Twitter, or Patreon DMs.

- It's very expensive, so if I license your mods can I share it with people I play with in a limited capacity?

If you license my modpack, you're paying for an entire lobby. You are encouraged to split the cost between members of the lobby. You're also paying for personal tech support from me, and the ability to request custom cosmetics and features.

- Can you help me get in touch with other content creators that have your mods that I can play with?

Content creators aren't allowed to play with their fans at the moment, as it would be a nightmare to deal with whitelisting.

Comments

If i was to only get the morphling mod how exactly would that cost?

I literally wrote that I can't sell it publicly, read the post.

I haven't started a Patreon before, but is there a way to make something like a $60 membership rank that gives you access to the modpack? Just because that may give access to a wider range of people who have less to spend. Thank you so much for explaining this though!
