There's a lot of confusion about Pandora's Authority(Including novel readers and the anime doesn't really help with not having the descriptions.), when the author described the seal in the forest in the Novel when it was first introduced, It was described as other worldly or not of this world.

Nice discussion as always 👍 Geuse is the goat. Betelgeuse is not the goat. That’s how you can judge his crimes, treat Betelgeuse as a different person, because he essentially is one. Regarding pandora, Regulus has the opinion that she could do this by herself. Regulus: “At any rate, neither I nor the Black Serpent needed to show up, Lady Pandora. You could have handled this much all by yourself.” Pandora: “Yes, that might well be the case. However, I needed to see with my own eyes just how earnestly people strive for their revered goals and just how lovely they can be while doing so.” Regulus: “The gist is, you wanted to see the desperate faces of people backed into a corner, didn’t you? Ha-ha-ha, if that’s all, you should just put it simply so people can understand. Making a needless excuse feels like it only wastes my time.”

For the record I don't know more about Pandora's power than you guys but you bringing up Schrödinger just helped something click for me. Vanity is in essence all about perception, how people see you and your actions and the things around you. Schrödinger's cat is similar in how it's all about observation, the act of percieving something by itself determining the true state of things. Pandora is mythologically all about a box as well, and interestingly the only thing left in the box after the releasing all the evils was hope. She talked a bit about hope this episode, specifically Emilia choosing between 2 different hopes for what would happen... I think her power is some kind of causal illusions, where she gets to decide whether the cat is dead or alive as she's opening the metaphorical box for the world to see, ie since she caused Regulus to come there, until she decides to let people know what is an illusion he is both there and not there, and any reactions to him being there have both happened and not happened. Similarly she is both killed and not killed by any attack until she lets the truth be percieved. But she can't directly change people's thoughts and actions, only subtly manipulating them into falling for her real and not real illusions until she has a state she is satisfied with to lock in as what actually happened.

My theory is that Pandora can only change events that she has personally witnessed or things that have happened to her. I don’t think she can compel anyone to act against their will necessarily.
