Re Zero and episode 18s being peak. Edit: Some of the locations Rhett listed off are places the main story does go to, but a lot are side-story only. Can't wait for the anime to eventually adapt some of these locations !

What's inside the seal and why does Fortuna believe it is capable of destroying the world? Why does Pandora want it? What is the Black Serpent doing here? Why was Regulus even here? 😂 What is Petelgeuse' connection to Flugel and what is with the implication of Flugel giving him the Sloth Witch Factor?

2025-09-23 02:28:02 +0000 UTCThe thing with "Petelgeuse" and "Betelgeuse" it's simply a translation issue. Canonically... it is Petelgeuse, with a P.... but we always call him geuse just like Emilia does anyway.

2025-09-22 21:04:33 +0000 UTCLoved the discussion as always. 👍 Regulus has some of, if not the most cut content in the anime solely because of the amount of ranting he does. If his dialogue wasn’t cut down to fit into the anime, his rants would take up so much time, season 2 would have to be several episodes longer. I want to highlight one line that was cut down in the anime. In the anime Regulus says: “look why don’t you just admit that it’s hopeless?” When in the light novel he says: “—You know, it really is time for you to acknowledge this is useless. It’s time to face up and realize it already, yeah? We’re different. You and I are actors meant for different stages. It’s not an issue of whether you can beat me. No one can beat me. No one can hurt me. Sword Saint or dragon, it’s all useless. All of it, every last bit…useless.” So yea, Regulus is even more insufferable in the light novel.

2025-09-22 20:12:17 +0000 UTCLoving the discussions, the author taking inspirations from mythology like this really makes the imagination run wild. Probably best to remember though that many of these names and myths have many versions across thousands of years, including the sins as others have mentioned, and there's no telling what versions or even pieces of versions were combined to inspire re:zero. Pandora especially intrigues me, since more than the on the nose interpretation of her wanting to open a seal ("box") containing some evil, in some versions of her story what she released included the sins themselves, not to mention it also including "hope" in some form (just now had the thought that it'd be cool if Subaru turned out to be hope somehow).
